(Photo by Scott Olson\/Getty Images)<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<h5>OAN Newsroom<br \/>\nUPDATED 6:45 PM PT \u2013 Thursday, February 4, 2021<\/h5>\n<p>A federal judge in Oregon made a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/oregon-vaccinate-prisoners-before-seniors-judge-order\">controversial ruling<\/a> to provide COVID vaccines to prisoners before senior citizens and teachers. In a recent ruling, U.S. Magistrate Judge Stacie Beckerman sided with the Oregon Justice Resource Center in its class-action lawsuit, which alleged inmates are at higher risk of contracting COVID-19.<\/p>\n<p>The lawsuit cited the <a href=\"https:\/\/constitutioncenter.org\/interactive-constitution\/interpretation\/amendment-viii\/clauses\/103\">Eighth Amendment<\/a>, which prohibits cruel and unusual punishment to inmates. The judge ordered inmates to be included in \u2018Phase 1A\u2019 of the COVID vaccine distribution plan in Oregon. Gov.
