Eric Trump was questioned in late 2020.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.documentcloud.org\/documents\/21172721-letitia-james-trump-lawsuit-stipulation-subpoena-of-donald-trump-jr-ivanka-trump\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-analytics-module=\"body_link\" data-analytics-post-depth=\"40\" data-uri=\"fcd8ecb618903f582b813cf3561773e3\">The court filing<\/a> referencing the subpoenas said they were served \u201cin connection with an investigation into the valuation of properties owned or controlled by Donald J. Trump or the Trump Organization.\u201d It went on to say that a \u201cdispute has arisen\u201d between the attorney general\u2019s office and the Trump family regarding the subpoenas.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>A person familiar with the investigation previously <a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/politics\/donald-trump-letitia-james-deposition\/2021\/12\/09\/01b10140-587f-11ec-a219-9b4ae96da3b7_story.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\" data-analytics-module=\"body_link\" data-analytics-post-depth=\"40\" data-uri=\"c5ddbad1538c70dc6192c2345a53b864\">told The Washington Post<\/a> that James is looking into whether rampant fraud \u201cpermeated the Trump Organization,\u201d and The Times reported last month that James wants Trump to sit for a deposition on January 7.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Congressman <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/tedlieu\/status\/1478075754030141447\">Ted Lieu<\/a>&nbsp;(D-CA) responded to the news on Twitter, saying, \u201cNo one should be above the law: Not the former President, not Ivanka Trump, and not Donald Trump Jr.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNY AG Letitia James subpoenaed Ivanka and Don Jr. Happy new year!\u201d <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/funder\/status\/1478054879100915722\">Scott Dworkin<\/a> added.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/OccupyDemocrats\/status\/1478078896352473088\">Occupy Democrats<\/a> called for both Trump children to be held in contempt and arrested, tweeting, \u201cBREAKING NEWS: Don Jr. and Ivanka Trump announce that they won\u2019t comply with the subpoenas issued against them earlier today by New York Attorney General Letitia James.
