The last time the city experienced a higher number of homicides was in 1996, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/police-violence-chicago-united-states-homicide-53931ce4993937b570dd61dbbaa146ce\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Associated Press<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>In addition to the staggering number of homicides, the report also revealed 3,561 shootings in Chicago during 2021.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/chicago.suntimes.com\/crime\/2021\/12\/16\/22840108\/800-homicides-crime-violence-shooting\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Chicago Sun-Times<\/a> recorded an even higher number, noting the city\u2019s 800th homicide on December 14.<\/p>\n<p>Cook County, the county that includes Chicago and some of its suburbs, surged to more than 1,000 homicides for the year, the highest since 1994.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Sad and sobering homicide numbers for Cook County this year: 1009 and counting (777 in Chicago).<br \/>The last time they were more than 1000 in a year was 1994 when there were 1141. In 1991 the medical examiner\u2019s office handled a record 1229 homicides. \u2066<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ABC7Chicago?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@ABC7Chicago<\/a>\u2069 <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/GnfMu8gQk3\">pic.twitter.com\/GnfMu8gQk3<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Craig Wall ABC 7 (@craigrwall) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/craigrwall\/status\/1465765508062535685?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">November 30, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe all know this has been a challenging year here in the city of Chicago,\u201d Police Superintendent David Brown&nbsp;told reporters last week, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/chicago.suntimes.com\/2021\/12\/30\/22860486\/deadliest-year-quarter-century-top-cop-promises-more-detectives-solve-crimes-officers-neighborhoods\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Chicago Sun-Times<\/a>. \u201cToo many families are reeling from the loss of (loved) ones due to senseless gun violence.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Some have blamed the city\u2019s bail reform practices as one of the factors behind the surging number of shootings. In November, The Daily Wire <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/50th-person-in-chicago-charged-with-murder-or-attempted-murder-while-out-on-felony-bond\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a> that&nbsp;Edmond Harris became the 50th person in Chicago arrested this year for allegedly murdering, attempting to murder, or shooting someone while out on felony bond:<\/p>\n<p><em>CWB Chicago&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/cwbchicago.com\/2021\/11\/50-uber-driver-was-murdered-by-a-man-who-was-on-felony-bail-federal-prosecutors-say-but-thats-only-part-of-story.html\">reported<\/a>&nbsp;that Harris was arrested on February 12 \u201cafter he allegedly crashed a hijacked SUV in Lawndale.\u201d For some reason, Harris was not charged for any crime related to the carjacking or crash and was instead charged \u201cwith failure to register as a sex offender in an unrelated matter.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Still, failing to register is a felony, but Harris was released a few days after his arrest after posting a $1,000 deposit for his felony bond.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cAs it turns out, Harris was a member of a prolific and extremely violent armed robbery and carjacking team that had been creating havoc throughout the city and suburbs for weeks, prosecutors now say,\u201d CWB Chicago reported. \u201cAnd five weeks after he posted that $1,000 bail bond, he killed an Uber driver in yet another carjacking, according to federal prosecutors.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>In addition to Chicago, The Daily Wire <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/twelve-major-cities-with-new-homicide-records-in-2021-all-led-by-democrats\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a> in December regarding an ABC News headline featuring 12 U.S. cities that have set annual homicide records in 2021. All 12 cities are led by a Democratic mayor as President Joe Biden\u2019s first year in office was plagued by growing crime.<\/p>\n<p>The dozen cities featured in the&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/abcnews.go.com\/US\/12-major-us-cities-top-annual-homicide-records\/story?id=81466453\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">ABC News<\/a>&nbsp;report on Wednesday included Portland, Oregon; St. Paul, Minnesota; Indianapolis, Indiana; Toledo, Ohio; Rochester, New York; Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; Columbus, Ohio; Louisville, Kentucky; Baton Rouge, Louisiana; Austin, Texas; Tucson, Arizona; and Albuquerque, New Mexico.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">In Joe Biden\u2019s America crime is on the rise.<\/p>\n<p>So far this year, 12 major American cities have new annual homicide records.<\/p>\n<p>Every city on the list is run by a Democrat mayor.<a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/9YhN34HtA1\">https:\/\/t.co\/9YhN34HtA1<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 House Republicans (@HouseGOP) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/HouseGOP\/status\/1468944943200845837?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">December 9, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Philadelphia, ranked first among the 12 cities in the study, experienced more homicides than New York City and Los Angeles combined in the report, despite being a much smaller city.<\/p>\n<p>The Daily Wire is one of America\u2019s fastest-growing conservative media companies and counter-cultural outlets for news, opinion, and entertainment.
