Version: 4.0.47--><p>NASCAR is now stepping on the brakes to a deal after giving approval on driver Brandon Brown\u2019s \u201cLet\u2019s Go Brandon\u201d sponsor, cryptocurrency meme coin LGBcoin.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLet\u2019s go Brandon,\u201d for the uninitiated, became a viral meme last year after Brown won a race and a reporter claimed fans were cheering \u201cLet\u2019s go Brandon,\u201d though they were clearly chanting \u201cF*** Joe Biden.\u201d The saying has now become a rip on President Joe Biden, as well as the media.<\/p>\n<p>Brown\u2019s spokesman Maxwell Marcucci <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxbusiness.com\/sports\/nascar-walks-back-lets-go-brandon-sponsorship-approval-brandon-brown-spokesperson-says\">said<\/a> Brandonbilt Motorsports received explicit approval of the LGBcoin sponsorship on December 26.<\/p>\n<p>But, now, NASCAR is claiming Brown\u2019s team \u201cjumped the gun\u201d by announcing the partnership.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe received written approval on the sponsors from a NASCAR Racing Operations official on December 26, 2021,\u201d Marcucci said in a statement. \u201cThe team subsequently moved forward with an announcement only after being provided with this approval.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe sponsor approval was unambiguous \u2014 the first four words of the email from NASCAR state, \u2018The sponsors are approved,&#8217;\u201d the statement read. \u201cThe only feedback offered was related to minor graphic design changes to ensure legibility on the track at 170mph.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Subsequently, Brown\u2019s team made the announcement on social media:<\/p>\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">I\u2019m excited to welcome <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/LGBcoin_io?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@LGBcoin_io<\/a> aboard my No. 68 Chevrolet Camaro as our 2022 NASCAR Xfinity Series full season primary partner!<\/p>\n<p>Press release: <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/yWfkonk8vO\">https:\/\/t.co\/yWfkonk8vO<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/s8PkfCtnVD\">pic.twitter.com\/s8PkfCtnVD<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Brandon Brown (@brandonbrown_68) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/brandonbrown_68\/status\/1476574258801348611?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">December 30, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<p>But that triggered a change from NASCAR.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAfter the announcement went live on Thursday morning,&nbsp;NASCAR acknowledged to us late that afternoon that we had received approval but that they now needed to discuss this at a higher&nbsp;level,\u201d Marcucci said.<\/p>\n<p>NASCAR also \u201capologized for any confusion and miscommunication,\u201d the spokesman <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2022\/01\/02\/motorsport\/nascar-review-lets-go-brandon-sponsorship-spt-intl\/index.html\">added<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Before the hiccup with NASCAR, James Koutoulas, hedge fund manager and investor advocate attorney, praised Brown as \u201cAmerica\u2019s Driver.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBrandon is not only an incredibly talented driver, but also a thoughtful individual wise beyond his years,\u201d Koutoulas said. \u201cHis commitment and singular focus on his profession is inspiring and his personal story is one that we can all be proud of\u2014an American story of success and perseverance. Brandon is truly America\u2019s Driver.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Brown revealed last week that it has been difficult for him to find sponsorship, due to the political nature of the chant associated with his name.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt got extremely difficult for us,\u201d Brown&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.sportsbusinessjournal.com\/Daily\/Issues\/2021\/12\/23\/Marketing-and-Sponsorship\/Brandon-Brown.aspx\">told<\/a>&nbsp;Sports Business Journal. \u201cIf you\u2019re a national corporation, that means you sell to all consumers \u2026 and unfortunately, when you get dragged into the political arena, people want you to take a side I\u2019ve never been put in a position where it\u2019s, \u2018OK, what side are you on?
