Andy Beshear (D) declared a State of Emergency on Saturday because of severe weather moving through parts of the state.<\/p>\n<p>The weather systems <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsaz.com\/2022\/01\/01\/kentucky-governor-declares-state-emergency\/\">affected<\/a> the western, eastern, and south central areas generating heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, tornadoes, and hail, WSAZ reported.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cKentucky Emergency Management has activated the State Emergency Operations Center [SEOC], and personnel from the Kentucky National Guard, Kentucky Transportation Cabinet, Kentucky State Police and Kentucky Department of Public Health are monitoring the situation from the SEOC,\u201d the outlet said.<\/p>\n<p>Beshear also&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/GovAndyBeshear\/status\/1477375178833342471\">shared<\/a> the announcement on his social media profile:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Gov. High water was blocking all or parts of multiple roads in Floyd, Knott and Pike counties as of noon. Casey County and Owsley County have declared local states of emergency.<\/p>\n<p>A tornado touchdown was reported in Hopkinsville, causing severe damage to downtown businesses, and a possible tornado touchdown was reported in Taylor County, where numerous households have been damaged. Severe thunderstorm warnings have also been issued for Logan, Simpson, Marion and Washington counties.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Video footage <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=yG6a6mOnw7o\">showed<\/a> large debris littering parking lots, a damaged roof, and debris surrounding an RV:<\/p>\n[embedded content]\n<p>Another clip showed crews <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=gP4EoDpbZu8\">performing<\/a> a rescue in Green County after a woman apparently drove her vehicle into the water and it stalled:<\/p>\n[embedded content]\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cIt is devastating that we are once again experiencing severe weather just weeks after the deadly tornadoes hit Western Kentucky. Sadly, some counties have been affected by both of these events,\u201d Beshear stated.<\/p>\n<p class=\"text | article-text\">\u201cWe will continue to monitor the weather and provide needed updates.
