The country music heavyweight sent a directive to all of its 400-plus stations to remove Wallen\u2019s songs from their playlists \u201ceffective immediately,\u201d Variety <a href=\"https:\/\/variety.com\/2021\/music\/news\/morgan-wallen-country-radio-removed-racial-slur-1234899010\/\">reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>iHeartRadio, Entercom, cable network CMT, satellite service SiriusXM, and streaming service Pandora have all also removed the 27-year-old\u2019s songs. Variety noted that Wallen\u2019s music is not currently appearing on platforms like Spotify and Apple Music, too.&nbsp;Nashville-based label Big Loud has suspended their contract with Wallen \u201cindefinitely.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Additionally, as <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2021\/02\/04\/acm-disqualifies-morgan-wallen-from-award-show\/?utm_source=NYPTwitter&amp;utm_campaign=SocialFlow&amp;utm_medium=SocialFlow\">reported<\/a> by The New York Post,&nbsp;Wallen \u201chas been disqualified from performing at or receiving any recognition during the upcoming Academy of Country Music Awards.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m embarrassed and sorry,\u201d Wallen said in response to the video. \u201cI used an unacceptable and inappropriate racial slur that I wish I could take back. There are no excuses to use this type of language, ever. I want to sincerely apologize for using the word. I promise to do better.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>TMZ <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tmz.com\/2021\/02\/02\/morgan-wallen-n-word-nashville-neighbors\/\">published<\/a> the video, which was reportedly recorded by a neighbor, showing Wallen spewing expletives and the N-word after a night out in Nashville with friends. He says \u2026 \u201ctake care of this p****-ass mother******\u201d \u2014 and then goes on to say, \u201ctake care of this p****-ass n*****\u201d \u2026 before finally heading in.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Variety noted that fans of Wallen\u2019s highlighted that the singer was using the term \u201cas a \u2018term of endearment\u2019 among friends and not as invective.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>However, the outlet noted,&nbsp;\u201cthe zero tolerance policy for the word is unlikely to get him any reprieves any time soon among major media companies, regardless of how fans might react when many of them awaken to the news that a hero of theirs is in disgrace Wednesday morning.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A figure in the country music industry said the move to deplatform Wallen\u2019s music has been met without pushback.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAny listener that doesn\u2019t take extreme offense at the character of these remarks is not a listener we need to entertain,\u201d the industry insider told Variety. \u201cProgram directors are like, \u2018Oh my god \u2014 this guy.\u2019 No one is saying, \u2018Are you sure you want to do that? He\u2019s really popular.\u2019 It\u2019s more like, \u2018It\u2019s going to be tough to make those changes immediately, but we\u2019ll do it.\u2019 You can\u2019t be pro-N-word.
