(Fiona Goodall\/Getty Images)<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cNonetheless, it did happen, according to Andrew Fox-Lewis of the Counties Manukau District Health Board in Auckland, New Zealand, and colleagues.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Security camera footage reportedly showed both doors were opened for just a few seconds.<\/p>\n<p>Three people from the UAE group became infected with the coronavirus, which genetic testing confirmed did not come from a member of their own party and came from the&nbsp;traveler from the Philippines. Rooms had external windows that could be freely opened by occupants,\u201d they added.&nbsp;\u201cOur findings support the hypothesis that during episodes of simultaneous door-opening, airborne particles in the room of person A rapidly diffused down a concentration gradient, across the corridor, and into the rooms of group BCDEF.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>A similar incident of infection <a href=\"https:\/\/wwwnc.cdc.gov\/eid\/article\/28\/2\/21-2422_article\">reportedly occurred<\/a> in Hong Kong where one fully vaccinated traveler infected another traveler with the omicron variant from across the hall at the quarantine hotel.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo items were shared between rooms, and other persons did not enter either room,\u201d researchers also noted.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A quarantined traveler in New Zealand reportedly infected three people who were in a separate\u00a0room across a hallway with zero contact.
