She had planned to visit Switzerland accompanied by her brother and father.<\/p>\n<p>The group departed from Newark, New Jersey, on the Icelandair flight traveling to Reykjavik, Iceland, for a layover.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>Not long into the five-hour trip, Fotieo said her throat began hurting. She had coronavirus rapid test kits and went to the restroom to use one.<\/p>\n<div class=\"article__section article__section_type_text utility__text\">\n<div class=\"article__section article__section_type_text utility__text\">\n<p>\u201cAnd within about two seconds, the test came back positive,\u201d Fotieo recalled. \u201cI freaked out and ran out of the bathroom and found the first person I could see. Luckily it was this amazing flight attendant named Rocky.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"photo__ratio-enforced\">\n<p>Rocky asked the young woman to wait inside the restroom so she could plan what to do next.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>When Rocky returned, she told Fotieo the flight was full, meaning there was no room for them to space her out from the others.<\/p>\n<div class=\"article__section article__section_type_text utility__text\">\n<p>\u201cThere were like 150 people on board,\u201d Fotieo explained. \u201cSo I said I would just stay in the bathroom for the rest of the flight.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B3\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p>The video footage <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=pvRFMN_Eys4\">showed<\/a> the woman inside the tiny bathroom with food and drinks on the shelf behind her:<\/p>\n[embedded content]\n<div class=\"article__section article__section_type_text utility__text\">\n<p>\u201cI can\u2019t believe I spent four hours in that bathroom,\u201d Fotieo noted. \u201cBut you\u2019ve got to do what you\u2019ve got to do.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>The young woman explained she took five rapid tests in the days prior to the trip and they all returned negative, adding she was vigilant of virus safety measures out of concern for her father.<\/p>\n<p>Her brother and father tested negative upon landing, and went to Switzerrland while Fotieo remained in Iceland for 10 days of quarantine inside a Red Cross Humanitarian Hotel.<\/p>\n<p>She had to spend Christmas alone but the flight attendant, Rocky, sent a special gift to Fotieo on Christmas Eve.<\/p>\n<div class=\"article__section article__section_type_text utility__text\">\n<p>\u201cI can confidently say that I would have probably cried for 10 day straight had it not been for Rocky,\u201d Fotieo stated. \u201cIcelandair as a whole really made this experience joyful and memorable, and it was really so heartwarming.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Additional videos on Fotieo\u2019s TikTok profile <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tiktok.com\/@marisaefotieo?referer_url=https%3A%2F%2Fiframe.nbcnews.com%2F&amp;referer_video_id=7043999713166642438&amp;refer=embed&amp;is_copy_url=1&amp;is_from_webapp=v1\">documented<\/a> her time in quarantine.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>She said her father and brother will return to&nbsp;Reykjavik when the quarantine is over and they will spend a few days in Iceland.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, air travel endured more delays and cancellations on Wednesday while inclement weather and the spread of the omicron variant strained airline scheduling and employees, UPI <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/news\/thousands-of-flights-canceled-delayed-as-covid-19-hits-record-levels\/\">reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A woman is getting a lot of attention for video of herself isolating in a plane\u2019s bathroom after she tested positive for the coronavirus during the flight.
