He has been spotted alive several times since his alleged death.<\/p>\n<p><span><strong>Fact Check:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Social media users have been sharing a screenshot of an article bearing the headline, \u201cMafia assassins descend on Rome to avenge murder of Pope Francis.\u201d The article was <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.is\/Via8E\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">published<\/a> Dec. 27 and cites \u201cFreemason sources.\u201d It goes on to claim that the closing of St. Peter\u2019s Basilica was the \u201ctrigger\u201d for the assassination.<\/p>\n<p>However, there is no evidence that Pope Francis was murdered between Christmas Eve and Dec. 27. If the Pope had been murdered, media outlets would have covered it, yet <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/search?q=pope+francis+murdered&amp;oq=pope+francis+murdered&amp;aqs=chrome..69i57l2j69i61j69i60l3j69i61l2.3581j0j4&amp;sourceid=chrome&amp;ie=UTF-8\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">none have<\/a>. Check Your Fact also reviewed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vatican.va\/news_services\/press\/index.htm\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Vatican press releases<\/a> and did not find any announcement about Pope Francis\u2019 alleged death.<\/p>\n<p>Pope Francis celebrated mass on Christmas Eve in St. Peter\u2019s Basilica with a substantial crowd, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.voanews.com\/a\/pope-celebrates-christmas-eve-mass-urges-focus-on-poor\/6369086.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">VOA News<\/a>. The Pope also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.vatican.va\/content\/francesco\/en\/events\/event.dir.html\/content\/vaticanevents\/en\/2021\/12\/25\/urbi-et-orbi.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">appeared<\/a> on Christmas Day, speaking to a massive crowd at St. Peter\u2019s Square.
