According to a study this week, infection with the new variant boosts immunity against the Delta variant, in turn, making reinfection less likely.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><strong>Scientists wrote, \u201cthese results are consistent with Omicron displacing the Delta variant, since it can elicit immunity which neutralizes Delta making reinfection with Delta less likely.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">New research from AHRI&#8217;s <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/sigallab?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@sigallab<\/a> shows infection with <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/Omicron?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#Omicron<\/a> also creates a neutralising immune response against the Delta variant. The results are submitted as a preprint to medRxiv.
