A fine of up to $10,000 per day could be enforced if the measure is passed.<\/p>\n<p>Republican State Sen. Rob Standridge introduced the legislation after hearing from parents and grandparents of children who had shared accounts of discovering books with sexualized content on school library shelves.<\/p>\n<p>A report from the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mcalesternews.com\/cnhi_network\/oklahoma-bill-gives-parents-the-right-to-have-a-book-removed-from-a-school-library\/article_2cd5f468-641c-11ec-9674-475897eac565.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">McAlester News-Capital<\/a> that interviewed Standridge noted:<\/p>\n<p><em>A few of the books he said he has concerns about include the \u201cTrans Teen Survival Guide,\u201d \u201cQuick and Easy Guide to Queer and Trans Identities, \u201cA Quick and Easy Guide to They\/Them Pronouns,\u201d and \u201cThe Art of Drag.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cI just think that those are overly sexualized,\u201d Standridge said. \u201cI think parents and grandparents, guardians should have a say on whether their kids are exposed to those books. If they want them, they can take (their children) to their local library.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Standridge said that even if the bill is passed, some schools are unlikely to comply and would lead to legal battles.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy guess is the schools won\u2019t comply and the parents will have to seek injunctive relief. That will be up to the trier of fact,\u201d he told the McAlester News-Capital.<\/p>\n<p>The bill is one of the multiple actions taking place in states to deal with increasingly sexualized content in books found in public schools. In November, two books were removed from Fairfax County Public Schools (FCPS) in Virginia after a parent dramatically read graphic passages from them during a school board meeting. The Daily Wire previously <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/books-containing-pedophilia-graphic-sex-depictions-have-been-pulled-from-fairfax-schools\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a>:<\/p>\n<p><em>The two books \u2014 \u201cGender Queer\u201d by Maia Kobabe and \u201cLawn Boy\u201d by Jonathan Evison \u2014 were suspended \u201ceffective immediately\u201d this week after parent Stacy Langton revealed the graphic sexual nature of the book. FCPS released&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.localdvm.com\/news\/virginia\/fairfax-co-public-schools-removes-two-books-after-heated-school-board-meeting\/amp\/\">a statement<\/a>&nbsp;saying it would review the content of the novels:<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Circulation of Lawn Boy by Jonathan Evison and Gender Queer by Maia Kobabe will be suspended with immediate effect. FCPS is in the process of convening two committees made up of staff, students and parents led by our Library Services Coordinator to assess the suitability of both texts for inclusion in our school libraries. The recommendation of the committees will be put forward to the&nbsp;Assistant Superintendent of Instructional Services who will make a final decision as to whether FCPS continues to stock these books.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The school district later reinstated the books in November, as The Daily Wire also previously <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/school-district-reinstates-notorious-raunchy-books-saying-gender-queer-comic-is-scientifically-based\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a>:<\/p>\n<p><em>Fairfax County Public Schools has reinstated the books \u201cGender Queer\u201d and \u201cLawn Boy\u201d after they were temporarily pulled because their contents depicting gay sex are so graphic that when a mother read from them at a school board meeting, she was cut off and school board members fled the dais.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cI can\u2019t wait to have your c*** in my mouth. I am going to give you the blowjob of your life, and then I want you inside me,\u201d parent Stacy Langton&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/watch-mom-reads-graphic-gay-porn-found-in-school-library-to-school-board\">read from Gender Queer at a school board meeting<\/a>&nbsp;on September 23.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cWhat if I told you I touched another guy\u2019s d***? What if I told you I sucked it? I was ten years old, but it\u2019s true. I sucked Doug Goble\u2019s d***, the real estate guy, and he sucked mine too,\u201d she read from Lawn Boy.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>The books were pulled from the shelves pending a review by a committee, but on Tuesday, FCPS&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.fcps.edu\/news\/fcps-reinstates-two-books-reaffirming-commitment-supporting-diversity-literature\">said<\/a>&nbsp;the books were back in libraries as part of \u201creaffirming [its] commitment to supporting diversity in literature.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Texas Republican Gov.
