That was made clear this week.<\/p>\n<p>The 54-year-old actress apparently got snippy with a reporter during a recent <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/film\/2021\/dec\/26\/im-not-just-coasting-along-nicole-kidman-on-fame-family-and-what-keeps-her-awake-at-night\">interview<\/a> when her famous ex-husband got inserted into the conversation. Guardian journalist Eva Wiseman recalled how the conversation went.<\/p>\n<p>The two were discussing what it was like for Kidman to play legendary actress Lucille Ball in the recent biopic, \u201cBeing the Ricardos.\u201d The movie has been getting a lot of attention, especially in terms of casting. Kidman almost dropped out of the role entirely from all the backlash against her being cast as Ball. But, she felt drawn to the story of this famous couple.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s about a creative and romantic relationship that doesn\u2019t work out,\u201d Kidman told The Guardian. \u201cBut from it come some extraordinary things. And I love that. I love that it\u2019s not a happy ending.\u201d She\u2019s referencing the fact that Ball and Desi Arnaz divorced after 20 years of marriage but remained friendly until his death in 1986.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis film says you can make an extraordinary relationship thrive and leave remnants of it that exist forever,\u201d she continued. \u201cYeah, that\u2019s really gorgeous. You can\u2019t make people behave how you want them to, and sometimes you\u2019re going to fall in love with someone who isn\u2019t going to be the person you spend the rest of your life with. And I think that\u2019s all very relatable. You may have kids with them. You may not, but they were very much in love.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The interviewer couldn\u2019t help but draw the parallel between Ball and Arnaz and Cruise and Kidman, since both had long marriages and had children together. Wiseman explained in the article how she asked the actress with \u201cexquisite care\u201d whether her comment referenced Cruise in any way. And Kidman shot that down immediately.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>She replied, \u201cOh, my God, no, no. Absolutely not. No. I mean, that\u2019s, honestly, so long ago that that isn\u2019t in this equation. So, no.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The journalist said Kidman was \u201cangry\u201d when she continued. \u201cAnd I would ask not to be pigeonholed that way, either. It feels to me almost sexist, because I\u2019m not sure anyone would say that to a man. And at some point, you go, \u2018Give me my life. In its own right.&#8217;\u201d<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s not the first time an interviewer brought up Cruise, whom Kidman was married to from 1990 until 2001. Recently, another journalist asked if the \u201cBig Little Lies\u201d actress ever got irritated by the questions on ancient history.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI was young. I think I offered it up?\u201d Kidman <a href=\"https:\/\/www.harpersbazaar.com\/culture\/features\/a37580066\/nicole-kidman-interview-october-2021\/\">told<\/a> Harper\u2019s Bazaar in October. \u201cMaybe I\u2019ve gotten a bit more trepidatious, but I\u2019m always trying to be as open as possible.
