class=\"subheading\">President Joe Biden continues ignoring state demands for more monoclonal antibody treatments, as shortages are preventing Americans seeking the treatment from accessing them.<\/p>\n<p>Last week, the Biden administration <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/world\/us\/us-pauses-allocation-regeneron-lilly-covid-19-antibodies-2021-12-23\/\">paused<\/a> shipments of the Regeneron and Eli Lilly <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wishtv.com\/news\/inside-indiana-business\/lillys-covid-antibody-therapies-paused\/\">treatments<\/a> because of concerns about their effectiveness against the omicron variant.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>The monoclonal antibody treatment Sotrovimab continues to be distributed.<\/p>\n<p>Florida Surgeon General Joseph Ladapo directly criticized the administration in a letter on Tuesday for \u201cactively preventing\u201d distribution of the treatments, noting they could be used in delta variant cases of the virus.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe sudden suspension of multiple monoclonal antibody therapy treatments from distribution to Florida removes a health care provider\u2019s ability to decide the best treatment options for their patients in their state,\u201d the letter <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2021\/12\/29\/florida-blasts-biden-administration-for-limiting-access-to-livesaving-coronavirus-treatment\">read<\/a>, criticizing the \u201cshortsightedness\u201d of the Biden administration.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>The Department of Health and Human Services responded to Ladapo\u2019s letter noting that the federal government would continue to provide some antibody treatments, but did not specifically address reports of the shortages.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe federal government has and will continue to supply Florida with treatments that can help improve patient outcomes, reduce stress on healthcare facilities, and save lives,\u201d they said in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/politics\/florida-surgeon-general-says-biden-admin-actively-preventing-monoclonal-antibody-treatments\">statement<\/a> to Fox News.<\/p>\n<blockquote have lead to clinic <a href=\"https:\/\/fredericksburg.com\/news\/local\/local-hospitals-temporarily-halt-use-of-monoclonal-antibodies-against-covid-19\/article_c90246c5-8273-5811-9184-287b512851e2.html\">closures<\/a>, denying access for people trying to fight the virus.<\/p>\n<p>Texas is also experiencing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.texastribune.org\/2021\/12\/27\/coronavirus-texas-antibody-omicron\/\">shortages<\/a> across the state, noting that since only the sotrovimab treatment is provided supplies have run short.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B3\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cThe federal government controls the distribution of monoclonal antibodies, and the regional infusion centers in Austin, El Paso, Fort Worth, San Antonio and The Woodlands have exhausted their supply of sotrovimab, the monoclonal antibody effective against the COVID-19 Omicron variant, due to the national shortage from the federal government,\u201d the Texas Department of Health and Human Services noted in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dshs.texas.gov\/news\/releases\/2021\/20211227.aspx\">statement<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Oklahoma officials also announced that \u201callocation of monoclonal antibodies has been insufficient to assure adequate supply moving forward\u201d until future shipments in January.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mississippifreepress.org\/19267\/with-omicron-rising-mississippi-has-shortage-of-monoclonal-antibodies\/\">Mississipi<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thv11.com\/article\/news\/health\/arkansas-low-monoclonal-antibody-treatments\/91-709bf257-4cd2-4185-b8c6-5d25dbc70e61\">Arkanas<\/a> has also announced shortages as well as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mlive.com\/public-interest\/2021\/12\/demand-for-monoclonal-antibodies-to-treat-covid-19-is-high-supply-is-low-and-omicron-is-coming.html\">Michigan<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>New Jersey hospitals are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.app.com\/story\/news\/health\/2021\/12\/28\/monoclonal-antibody-treatment-nj-hospitals-omicron\/9024372002\">restricting<\/a> use of the treatments for only patients who are most at risk.<\/p>\n<p>The White House has not specifically addressed the widespread shortages, but used the president\u2019s social media accounts to remind Americans that vaccines
