Tom Cotton (R-AR) says the nation\u2019s war on crime must begin with recalling, removing, and replacing \u201cevery last\u201d District Attorney <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2021\/03\/09\/investigation-soros-funded-district-attorneys-help-criminal-illegal-aliens-escape-deportation\/\">with ties<\/a> to left-wing billionaire George Soros.<\/p>\n<p>In <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.is\/ZeMWf\">an op-ed<\/a> for Real Clear Politics, Cotton wrote that it is no coincidence that the \u201clargest increase in murder in American history and the largest number of drug overdose deaths ever recorded\u201d has coincided with cities electing \u201cradical, left-wing, George Soros progressives\u201d to District Attorney offices.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>Los Angeles District Attorney <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/crime\/2021\/12\/09\/questions-about-crime-ruin-soros-funded-george-gascons-one-year-anniversary-party\/\">George Gasc\u00f3n<\/a>, who has refused to prosecute a number of crimes, won his race with money from Soros as did incoming Manhattan District Attorney <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2021\/11\/03\/soros-captures-another-district-attorneys-office-with-manhattan-win\/\">Alvin Bragg<\/a> who <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2021\/07\/06\/likely-manhattan-district-attorney-vows-not-to-prosecute-trespassing-prostitution-resisting-arrest\/\">has vowed not<\/a> to prosecute trespassing, prostitution, and resisting arrest. Cotton wrote:<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<blockquote>\n<p>These legal arsonists condemn our rule of law as \u2018systemically racist\u2019 and have not simply abused prosecutorial discretion, they have embraced prosecutorial nullification. As a result, a contagion of crime has infected virtually every neighborhood under their charge.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Soros prosecutors refuse to enforce laws against shoplifting, drug trafficking, and entire categories of felonies and misdemeanors<\/strong>. In Chicago, Cook County State\u2019s Attorney Kim Foxx allows theft under $1,000 to go unpunished. In Manhattan, District Attorney Cyrus Vance Jr. refuses to enforce laws against prostitution. In Baltimore, State\u2019s Attorney Marilyn Mosby has unilaterally declared the war on drugs \u201cover\u201d and is refusing to criminally charge drug dealers in the middle of the worst drug crisis in American history. For a time, <strong>Los Angeles District Attorney George Gascon even stopped enforcing laws against disturbing the peace, resisting arrest, and making criminal threats<\/strong>. [Emphasis added]\n<p>All of these cities have paid a terrible price for these insane policies. Last year, the number of homicides in Chicago rose by 56%, and more than 1,000 Cook County residents have been murdered in 2021. In New York City, murder increased 47% and shootings soared 97%. <strong>In 2020, the murder rate in Baltimore was higher than El Salvador\u2019s or Guatemala\u2019s \u2014 nations from which citizens often attempt to claim asylum purely based on gang violence and murder<\/strong>\u2014and this year murder in Baltimore is on track to be even higher. Murder in Los Angeles rose 36% last year and is on track to rise another 17% this year. [Emphasis added]\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Cotton also took aim at House and Senate Republicans who helped former President Trump pass \u201cthe pro-criminal First Step Act.\u201d The law, Cotton notes, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2019\/07\/26\/report-first-step-act-frees-hundreds-of-sex-offenders-convicted-murderers\/\">has helped provide<\/a> early release to \u201csome child predators, carjackers, gang members, and bank robbers\u201d along with those who helped other inmates break out of prison.<\/p>\n<p>Only a handful of Republicans <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2018\/12\/18\/senate-passes-criminal-justice-reform-bill\/\">joined Cotton<\/a> in opposing the First Step Act. In one case, the leader of the&nbsp;\u201cAlmighty Latin Kings\u201d gang <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2019\/10\/25\/latin-kings-gang-leader-freed-by-first-step-act-arrested-for-murder-after-nationwide-manhunt\/\">was arrested<\/a> for murder less than a year after being released from federal prison thanks to the First Step Act.<\/p>\n<p>The First Step Act, Cotton argues, was a \u201cmisguided push by Republicans to win applause from liberals [and] strengthened the hand of radicals like George Soros\u201d that must now be acknowledged as such to focus on reducing crime.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Republican Party must then join with independents and common-sense Democrats to wage an unrelenting war on crime,\u201d Cotton wrote. \u201cThat war must begin with a campaign to recall, remove, and replace every last Soros prosecutor.
