During practice on Jan. 10, 2017, the two got into an argument over politics at Garcia\u2019s home in North Long Beach, prosecutors said.<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"\"><em>McVoy pulled a gun after he was teased for saying he had voted for Hillary Clinton and Garcia told him to leave, prosecutors said.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The mother was reportedly in a coma for months, undergoing multiple surgeries, before succumbing to her injuries.<\/p>\n<p>The band was apparently watching President Barack Obama give a speech that day. A witness testified that he poked fun at Garcia for supporting Donald Trump, \u201csomething Victor Garcia denied.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>However, when McVoy said that he had voted for Hillary Clinton, Garcia allegedly made a joke against McVoy and told him \u201cGet the f*** out of my house.\u201d The witness in court stated that everybody laughed.<\/p>\n<p>That joke led to the aforementioned sequence of events that led to Susan Garcia\u2019s death.<\/p>\n<p>The Press-Enterprise also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.pe.com\/2021\/11\/16\/jurors-find-corona-man-guilty-of-2017-murder-in-long-beach-that-prosecutor-says-was-over-presidential-election\/\">reported<\/a> that McVoy claimed that Garcia was the one who first became violent, even making racist comments toward the white Clinton supporter:<\/p>\n<p><em>During testimony, McVoy said he tried to calm Garcia down after Garcia had made racist comments, and&nbsp;pulled the gun and fired after Victor Garcia grabbed an object from the table&nbsp;and began raising his arms toward McVoy.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>McVoy testified that Garcia approached him with the object, a can opener that McVoy initially believed could have been a knife.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>But, a witness testified that the story was false:<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cIt\u2019s all contrived by McVoy,\u201d Lee said of his testimony. \u201cHis account makes no sense when considering the evidence.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>[\u2026]<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cHe\u2019s the one that made this something else,\u201d she said. \u201cThere was no imminent danger at the time.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The Western Journal <a href=\"https:\/\/www.westernjournal.com\/hillary-clinton-supporter-sentenced-35-years-life-killing-woman-political-argument\/\">added<\/a> that \u201cthe jury ultimately found McVoy not guilty on two counts of attempted murder relating to Victor Garcia and the child.
