The driver was forced to drive to a quiet area on Bankhead Court where he was bound and his packages were reportedly stolen.<\/p>\n<p>UPS tracked the truck after it did not report to its destination on time. When police arrived, the driver was found tied up in the back. The driver was reportedly uninjured.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhile the truck was stopped at a traffic light, a person armed with a firearm got into the vehicle and forced the victim to drive to Bankhead Court,\u201d a police spokesman said in the statement, according to the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ajc.com\/news\/breaking-ups-driver-kidnapped-at-gunpoint-packages-stolen\/X2IGYTDJDRDD3PJROCCMFFRRPQ\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Atlanta Journal-Constitution<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\"><a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/hashtag\/BREAKING?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">#BREAKING<\/a>: UPS driver kidnapped at gunpoint, packages stolen<a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/ybcdfMG5eX\">https:\/\/t.co\/ybcdfMG5eX<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Atlanta Journal-Constitution (@ajc) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ajc\/status\/1475888499001856000?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">December 28, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cOnce there the suspect, along with others, tied the victim up and stole cargo from the tractor-trailer,\u201d he added. Approximately 25% of the truck\u2019s packages were taken, the report noted.<\/p>\n<p>The suspects have not yet been identified in the brazen robbery.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt least one suspect got in his truck, held him at gunpoint and gave him some directions to drive around the area,\u201d police said, according to a report by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsbtv.com\/news\/local\/atlanta\/ups-driver-kidnapped-gunpoint-found-tied-up-tractor-trailer-police-say\/BWCVKAZWXVFLFM2NK2KDBMOLMU\/?fbclid=IwAR2nc4hVoyb_RmgHav5WVfkKu34n-ReerT6HSTA3rv_kyOPq7m2oVlB5jGQ\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">WSB-TV<\/a> Altanta. \u201cThey drove to the back of the lot, where they unloaded the contents on the back of the truck and loaded it onto their own truck that had been there waiting.\u201d<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">The suspect and other people tied up the driver and stole packages from the truck before they left the scene. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/tFXeqeoocO\">https:\/\/t.co\/tFXeqeoocO<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 WSB-TV (@wsbtv) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/wsbtv\/status\/1475882431462969344?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">December 28, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are thankful that our driver is safe, and will defer questions to the investigating authorities,\u201d a company representative said in a statement Wednesday, according to <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/news\/us-news\/ups-driver-kidnapped-packages-stolen-brazen-atlanta-heist-rcna10307\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">NBC News<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The concerning incident follows two carjackings involving political leaders in two other states.<\/p>\n<p>Five suspects were <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fox29.com\/news\/congresswoman-mary-gay-scanlon-carjacked-at-fdr-park-in-south-philly-spokesperson-says?taid=61c3e8721ff9440001263808&amp;utm_campaign=trueanthem&amp;utm_medium=trueanthem\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">apprehended<\/a> in Delaware on Wednesday last week after state police discovered them with the vehicle that was reportedly carjacked earlier in the day from Pennsylvania Democratic Rep. Mary Gay Scanlon.<\/p>\n<p>Scanlon reported her SUV being carjacked at gunpoint at FDR Park in South Philadelphia along the 1900 block of Pattison Avenue, according to law enforcement. The congresswoman was unharmed in the incident.<\/p>\n<p>Scanlon\u2019s office released a statement thanking police on Wednesday:<\/p>\n<p><em>Wednesday afternoon around 2:45 p.m., Congresswoman Scanlon was carjacked at gunpoint in FDR Park following a meeting at that location. The Congresswoman was physically unharmed. Lightford is the second-highest-ranking Democrat in the state\u2019s Senate.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPolice said three men driving a Durango took a black Mercedez Benz SUV that belonged to Lightford, police said.
