In several <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bostonherald.com\/2021\/12\/28\/boston-workers-organizing-against-coronavirus-vaccine-mandate-tyranny-is-here-on-our-doorstep\/\">statements<\/a> given to the Boston Herald, it is clear that Boston unions are not giving up the fight against the mandate.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cTyranny is here on our doorstep and if we do not act now, in concert with ALL city workers, then we are sealing our own fate,\u201d Boston First Responders United (BFRU) stated recently.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cPeople are standing up and making their voices heard. We\u2019re standing up for one another and for workers\u2019 rights and civil rights,\u201d Shana Cottone, president of BFRU, told the Herald.<\/p>\n<p>BFRU is reportedly working on a legal effort against the mandate.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAFSCME Council 93 has consistently maintained that vaccinations are the safest and most effective means of getting us through this pandemic,\u201d Executive Director Mark Bernard told the Herald in a statement. \u201cHowever, we also maintain that any policy related to vaccinations as a condition of employment must be negotiated with the union.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCurrently, in the City of Boston, our members are subject to an agreement negotiated less than three months ago that allows workers, who for any number of reasons are reluctant to receive a vaccine, to choose a regular testing option,\u201d Bernard added. \u201cThis policy is working well and is in line with the Federal Government\u2019s policy implemented by the Department of Labor.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>As The Daily Wire recently <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/boston-protesters-sing-star-spangled-banner-in-rally-against-progressive-mayors-new-vaccine-mandate\">reported<\/a>, Boston city employees must be fully vaccinated against the coronavirus with two doses by February 15, 2022, or lose their jobs. Currently, Boston\u2019s 18,000 city employees have the option of undergoing weekly testing or receiving the coronavirus jab in order to keep working.<\/p>\n<p>On the day that Wu announced the city\u2019s mandate, dozens of protesters crowded city hall and sang the national anthem in protest.<\/p>\n<p>The Daily Wire previously <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/boston-mayor-implies-vax-mandate-protesters-chanting-usa-were-fueled-by-hatred-and-fear-and-confusion\">reported<\/a> that Wu implied these protests were in part motivated by hatred, fear, and confusion:<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cI\u2019ve grown up my whole life knowing what it feels like to feel invisible or othered, and this is an experience that far too many Americans share,\u201d Wu told&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.wgbh.org\/news\/politics\/2021\/12\/22\/wu-says-hateful-comments-have-flooded-her-office-since-announcing-new-vaccine-regulations\">GBH<\/a>. \u201cStanding at the podium, hearing the demonstrators who were opposing our policies singing patriotic songs and chanting \u2018USA\u2019 \u2014 the message was clear that we don\u2019t belong here in their eyes, and shouldn\u2019t be trying to take away something that they perceive they have and are losing.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>[\u2026]<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cThere is still a part of our society, even in this state, even in this city, that really feels like something is being taken away from them,\u201d Wu also said. \u201cThat is based in misinformation, it\u2019s based in, I think at some level, hatred, and fear and confusion.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Boston is one of several major cities to recently enact a new vaccine mandate for city employees.<\/p>\n<p><em>The Daily Wire is one of America\u2019s fastest-growing conservative media companies and counter-cultural outlets for news, opinion, and entertainment.
