Version: 4.0.47--><div><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/imgonline-com-ua-FrameBlurred-NcWfnDjFKI4HX-640x335-1.png\" class=\"ff-og-image-inserted\" alt=\"image\" \/><\/div>\n<p class=\"subheading\">The ex-head volleyball coach with the Green Mountain Garwin School District,&nbsp;located in Iowa, was recently charged with four counts of sexual exploitation by a school employee, according to the <em>Des Moines Register<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>The individual was also charged on one count of \u201cdissemination and exhibition of obscene materials to minors,\u201d the outlet <a href=\"https:\/\/www.desmoinesregister.com\/story\/news\/2021\/12\/25\/charge-former-volleyball-coach-tama-county-had-sex-student-17-freen-mountain-garwin\/9016907002\/\">reported<\/a> Saturday.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cBrycelyn Haughey, 22, of the Tama County town of Toledo, who also was a&nbsp;paraeducator for the district, is accused of having a sexual relationship with a 17-year-old boy&nbsp;from September to December 2020,\u201d the article said.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Tama County sheriff\u2019s detective Trevor Killian, in an affidavit filed last week, said Superintendent Kym Stein called him in October to inform him of the issue, which sparked an investigation.<\/p>\n<p>Stein assumed the position of the district\u2019s superintendent in July.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>Killian noted in the document she asserted the district\u2019s previous administration overlooked the situation&nbsp;\u201cand she felt as a mandatory reporter, this was pertinent to the investigation.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">The district opened an investigation into Haughey once she resigned from her position in September.<\/p>\n<div class=\"fb-post\" data-href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/TimesRepublican\/posts\/10158439091451981\" data-width=\"640\">\n<blockquote cite=\"https:\/\/graph.facebook.com\/141432781980\/posts\/10158439091451981\/\" class=\"fb-xfbml-parse-ignore\">\n<p>A former coach and paraeducator at GMG has been arrested and charged with multiple counts of sexual exploitation by a\u2026<\/p>\n<p>Posted by <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/141432781980\">Times-Republican<\/a> on&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/graph.facebook.com\/141432781980\/posts\/10158439091451981\/\">Friday, December 24, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">According to Killian\u2019s affidavit, he met in early December with the student, who claimed he and Haughey exchanged phone numbers when he hit her car while leaving the school parking lot in September 2020.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">The student was reportedly supposed to repair the woman\u2019s vehicle, the affidavit noted.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">\u201c[The student] stated that Brycelyn asked how old [he] was and he stated 17,\u201d the document read, adding, \u201cBrycelyn then asked if [the student] was a senior and [he] said \u2018No, I\u2019m a junior.\u2019 [The student] stated that Brycelyn then made a comment of \u2018close enough.&#8217;\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B3\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">The student received \u201cflirtatious\u201d text messages from Haughey and the young man thought she was joking, according to the affidavit.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">The student reportedly told Killian that Haughey asked him to her house on September 25, 2020, and when he arrived, she was with a girl younger than himself.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">\u201cThe student said he began drinking alcohol with Haughey and the girl, and that later that night, he and Haughey engaged in their first sexual act, the affidavit said,\u201d according to the <em>Register<\/em> report.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">The document noted he told Killian he and Haughey kept meeting, drinking, and engaging in sex, adding Haughey allegedly sent him texts with \u201cseductive\u201d images of herself, including an image where she was nude.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">So far, no trial date had been scheduled for the young woman, but under the state\u2019s law, sexual exploitation by a school employee was a felony that if the person was convicted, could mean a maximum sentence of five years in prison and a maximum fine of over $10,000.<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">In response to the Sun Courier, Stein&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.timesrepublican.com\/news\/todays-news\/2021\/12\/former-gmg-coach-charged-with-sexual-exploitation\/\">wrote<\/a>&nbsp;in a statement, \u201cWe are aware of the recent criminal charges against Ms. Haughey.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"gnt_ar_b_p\">\u201cThe district will continue to follow its policies and procedures, including cooperating with law enforcement.
