On Monday, Kanter Freedom shared a letter sent to him by the 43rd president of the United States \u2014 George W. Bush \u2014 congratulating him on his new U.S. citizenship.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat an honor! Huge thanks to 43rd president of the U.S. George W. Bush,\u201d Kanter Freedom posted to Twitter. \u201cI\u2019m proud to be a citizen of the United States of America, the land of the free and home of the brave. Or two, you can do something about it and write history,\u201d Wilkins <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/we-cannot-stay-silent-enes-kanter-freedom-joined-by-nba-hall-of-famer-in-calling-on-chinese-government-to-free-the-uyghur-people\">said<\/a> in the video. \u201cWhich side are we taking?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat is happening to the Uyghur people is one of the worst human rights tragedies in the world today,\u201d Wilkins continued. \u201cWe cannot stay silent.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Days later, Kanter Freedom thanked Kareem Abdul-Jabbar \u2014 the NBA\u2019s all-time leading scorer \u2014 for his video, which applauded the Celtics center for criticizing the Chinese Communist Party\u2019s \u201ccruelty and inhumanity.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHis protests have brought retaliation from China, who have pulled Celtics games from the streaming site Tencent,\u201d Abdul-Jabbar <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/a-true-leader-enes-kanter-freedom-to-kareem-abdul-jabbar-after-he-hits-china-over-human-rights-abuses\">said<\/a>. \u201cI can\u2019t help but admire Enes\u2019 unapologetic bravery and commitment to the very freedom he celebrates with his name change. China is a big source of money for the NBA, so to criticize their cruelty and inhumanity is a bold step. He is just the kind of courageous American citizen we need.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Kanter Freedom has used his platform not only to criticize the CCP, but to call out those who profit off of Chinese labor.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>In November, Kanter Freedom took to social media with a message for LeBron James, accompanied by pictures of his custom footwear.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMoney over Morals for the \u2018King\u2019 [Crown]. Sad &amp; disgusting how these athletes pretend they care about social justice,\u201d Kanter said, referring to James. \u201cThey really do \u2018shut up &amp; dribble\u2019 when Big Boss [Flag of China] says so. It\u2019s about morals, principles and values. It\u2019s about what you stand for. There are way bigger things than money.
