The U.S. and other European countries will <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/world\/us-russian-officials-set-security-talks-jan-10-us-official-2021-12-28\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">also hold a third meeting<\/a> with Russian representatives on Jan. 13, Reuters reported. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/12\/02\/us-threat-russia-ukraine-war-blinken-lavrov\/\">(RELATED:&nbsp;US Issues Threat To European Country Warning About War)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Neither the U.S. nor Russia have formally announced which officials will be attending the meetings.<\/p>\n<p>Russia has had tens of thousands of troops amassed on its border with Ukraine for weeks. The buildup mirrors Russia\u2019s actions prior to invading Ukraine in 2014.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_7343535\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\">\n<p id=\"caption-attachment-7343535\" class=\"wp-caption-text\"><em>President Joe Biden signed the National Defense Authorization Act on Monday. (Photo by Anna Moneymaker\/Getty Images)<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>President Joe Biden has already stated that a sending U.S. troops to defend Afghanistan is \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/dailycaller.com\/2021\/12\/08\/joe-biden-sending-us-troops-ukraine-not-on-table\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">not on the table<\/a>.\u201d The U.S. and its allies have instead threatened widespread economic consequences should Russia move forward with an invasion.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe have a moral obligation and a legal obligation to our NATO allies if they were to attack under Article 5, it\u2019s a sacred obligation,\u201d Biden said in early December. \u201cThat obligation does not extend to NATO \u2013 I mean to Ukraine. But it would depend upon what rest of the NATO countries were willing to do as well. But the idea that the United States is going to unilaterally use force to confront Russia invading Ukraine is not on, in the cards right now. What will happen is there will be severe consequences.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Republicans have been heavily critical of Biden\u2019s handling of Ukraine, arguing that the president is being too lenient with Russian President Vladimir Putin.<\/p>\n<p>\u201c\u2018Speak loudly and carry a small stick\u2019 is a weak game plan,\u201d Republican Nebraska Sen. Ben Sasse told the Daily Caller as Russia\u2019s presence ramped up Dec. 7. \u201cBiden has given Putin the upper hand at almost every turn: letting Russia dictate reciprocal diplomatic representation, waiving sanctions on NordStream 2, and turning the page from Paul Whelan and Alexei Navalny\u2019s unjust imprisonment.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\">\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">Sen.
