The detonation was filmed in a quarry reportedly in Jaala, Finland.<\/p>\n<p>Katainen claimed he was told the only way to repair the vehicle was to replace the entire battery pack.&nbsp;The car originally sold for a retail price of $57,400.<\/p>\n<p>Tesla vehicles generally include an eight-year warranty, though Katainen\u2019s apparently had expired. The predicament led to Katainen\u2019s fiery plan, as <a href=\"https:\/\/gizmodo.com\/finnish-man-passes-on-paying-22-600-to-replace-his-tes-1848268874\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Gizmodo<\/a> reported:<\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-77igqf-0 bOfvBY\"><em>To carry out his master plan, Katainen enlisted the help of YouTuber&nbsp;<a class=\"sc-1out364-0 hMndXN sc-145m8ut-0 kVnoAv js_link\" href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/c\/Pommij%C3%A4tk%C3%A4t\/about\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\" data-ga=\"[[&quot;Embedded Url&quot;,&quot;External link&quot;,&quot;https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/c\/Pommij%C3%A4tk%C3%A4t\/about&quot;,{&quot;metric25&quot;:1}]]\">Pommij\u00e4tk\u00e4t<\/a>, which roughly translates to \u201cBomb Dudes,\u201d according to Google Translate. (Whether that\u2019s an accurate translation or not, it seems appropriate considering Pommij\u00e4tk\u00e4t likes to make things explode).<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"sc-77igqf-0 bOfvBY\"><em>While blowing up a car with dynamite may sound fun, it\u2019s not an easy task. Katainen and Pommij\u00e4tk\u00e4t set up the operation in a quarry at Jaala, a small rural town in Southern Finland. The group had to consider factors like the explosive\u2019s huge pressure wave and the direction the blast would go in order to ensure safety.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The YouTube video has already been viewed more than 4.7 million times.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere\u2019s nothing left. Absolutely nothing,\u201d Kaitain said. \u201cI never enjoyed this much with the Tesla! And also, maybe I am the first person in the world who has exploded a Tesla. So maybe, made some history.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>An <a href=\"https:\/\/electrek.co\/2021\/12\/23\/tesla-owner-blows-up-model-s-dynamite-battery-replacement\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Electrek<\/a> report by Fred Lambert noted the experience is not common to Tesla drivers.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s a lot of money, but the good news is that Tesla\u2019s battery packs have been known to last a long time,\u201d Lambert said.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have a Tesla Model X that had a battery pack last for more than 300,000 miles,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>On average, the 2013 Tesla model battery was estimated to last at least 150,000 miles.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor context, these cars come with an eight-year (or up to 150,000 miles) <a href=\"https:\/\/www.tesla.com\/support\/vehicle-warranty\">battery and drive unit warranty<\/a>, but the warranties on older models are starting to expire, revealing the potential cost behind a full battery replacement,\u201d the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theverge.com\/2021\/12\/26\/22853573\/tesla-model-s-explosion-repair-bill\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Verge<\/a> reported.<\/p>\n<p>Despite the Tesla explosion, CEO Elon Musk has been making plenty of other news in 2021. Musk was named Time magazine\u2019s \u201cPerson of the Year\u201d for 2021 earlier in December.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Person of the Year is Elon Musk.
