According to the <a href=\"https:\/\/nypost.com\/2021\/12\/27\/inside-kanye-wests-new-home-right-across-from-kim-kardashian\/\">New York Post<\/a>, the rapper paid a whopping $421,000 over the seller\u2019s $4.5 million asking price because he wanted the property so badly.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>And it makes sense why he does. The 44-year-old father of four is currently in the process of getting divorced from Kardashian, whom he married in 2014. The new property offers West close proximity to his children, who he\u2019ll likely be sharing with his ex-wife through a joint custody agreement once the divorce is finalized.<\/p>\n<p>The new house is not West\u2019s only residence. In September, the \u201cDonda\u201d creator bought a $57.3 million modern Malibu estate. It\u2019s a far cry from the aesthetic of the 1955 ranch home that has only had one owner. Many of the features, including wood paneling and shag carpets, do not fit into the extreme minimalist design style that West seems to favor. But the property does feature more than 3,650 square feet and 5 bedrooms with a pool in the backyard. And, everyone knows what they say matters in real estate: Location, location, location.<\/p>\n<p>At least one source said West plans to knock down the existing property and rebuild. The unnamed insider told <a href=\"https:\/\/people.com\/home\/kanye-west-buys-home-across-from-kim-kardashian-to-be-near-kids\/\">People<\/a> of the rapper\u2019s plan.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cKanye\u2019s new house is a teardown,\u201d the source said. \u201cHe only bought it for the location. It\u2019s near Kim and the kids. He has a vision for the house and plans on starting construction ASAP.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>They continued: \u201cIt will be family-friendly. He wants to be able to have the kids over as much as possible. Living only in Malibu was making visits more tricky for Kanye.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>West and Kardashian share daughter North, 8; son Saint, 6; daughter Chicago, 3; and son Psalm, 2, together. West has been vocal about staying an involved father in his children\u2019s lives.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>West has been hinting that he favors reconciling with Kardashian and is only purchasing nearby property as a backup plan. During a December performance in Los Angeles, he dedicated the song \u201cRunaway\u201d to the mother of his children, singing, \u201cI need you to run right back to me, baby,\u201d before clarifying, \u201cmore specifically, Kimberly.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The rapper also gave a speech in November with a similar sentiment. While speaking at the Los Angeles Mission\u2019s Annual Thanksgiving Event, West said, \u201cWhen God brings Kimye together, there\u2019s going to be millions of families that are going to be influenced to see that they can overcome the work of the separation\u201d and confirmed he \u201cneeds to be back home.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>West said that political issues are part of what drove the pair apart. \u201cBeing a good wife, she just wanted to protect me and our family,\u201d he said. \u201cI made me and our family a target by not aligning with Hollywood\u2019s political stance, and that was hard for our marriage.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Kardashian seems to be moving on.
