Pramila Jayapal (D-WA) argued that he was still failing to fork over his \u201cfair share.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The comment came after Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) \u2014 another progressive lawmaker \u2014 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/i-will-pay-more-taxes-than-any-american-in-history-this-year-elon-musk-obliterates-elizabeth-warren-with-one-tweet\">denounced<\/a> Musk earlier this month for \u201cfreeloading off everyone else\u201d and benefiting from \u201cthe rigged tax code.\u201d Musk replied to Warren: \u201cAnd if you opened your eyes for 2 seconds, you would realize I will pay more taxes than any American in history this year.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Jayapal chimed in by saying that Musk should have paid more.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cElon Musk made $36 BILLION in one day, but wants to brag about paying an $11 billion tax bill,\u201d said Jayapal. \u201cOh yeah, he also added more than $270 BILLION in wealth just since the pandemic started. Joe Manchin (D-WV), for pulling his support for President Biden\u2019s $1.75 trillion Build Back Better Act.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNearly a year ago, President Biden laid out his Build Back Better agenda: a broad vision to meet the individual and collective challenges Americans face, necessarily ambitious to address crises both created and exposed by the pandemic,\u201d Jayapal wrote. \u201cFor most of 2021, Democrats worked to pass legislation that realizes that vision. The president negotiated with Congress, including Sens. Joe Manchin III (D-W.Va.) and Kyrsten Sinema (D-Ariz.) directly. Sen. Manchin committed to the president \u2014 who relayed that commitment to House members \u2014 that he would support the legislative framework unveiled on Oct. 28.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cBut on Dec. 20, Sen. Manchin went back on his commitment to the president and seemingly killed the bill on national television,\u201d Jayapal said. \u201cIn a town where your word is everything, this was a stunning rebuke of his own party\u2019s president.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDespite that, we must move forward,\u201d she continued. \u201cThe president\u2019s agenda is even more urgent today. The omicron variant is surging as covid-19 has once again disrupted people\u2019s ability to work, care for children and elders, access medical care and make ends meet. We simply cannot abandon our vision.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Jayapal said that Manchin\u2019s decision neglected the purported needs of women and minorities. \u201cPeople of color, women and young people helped deliver the White House and Congress to Democrats, but their needs were consistently delayed in search of bipartisanship,\u201d she complained.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this month, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.bloomberg.com\/news\/articles\/2021-12-15\/tesla-s-musk-berates-warren-on-twitter-again-in-spat-over-taxes\">Bloomberg<\/a> explained that Musk\u2019s stock options would be the primary driver of his tax bill.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe world\u2019s richest person and chief executive officer of Tesla Inc. could face a tax bill of more than $10 billion for 2021, if he exercises all his options due to expire next year,\u201d Bloomberg reported. \u201cWhile it\u2019s hard to say whether that would be a record \u2014 the Internal Revenue Service doesn\u2019t publicly reveal individual tax filings \u2014 it would certainly rank as one of the biggest payments of all time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201c\u200b\u200bMusk faces the unusually high tax bill after exercising almost 15 million options and selling millions of shares to cover the taxes related to the transactions,\u201d Bloomberg added.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Daily Wire is one of America\u2019s fastest-growing conservative media companies and counter-cultural outlets for news, opinion, and entertainment.
