Ted Cruz (R-TX)&nbsp;told Breitbart News in an exclusive interview that he does not believe in boycotting the 2022 Winter Olympics in China because it would \u201cpunish\u201d young athletes who have trained their entire lives to compete on the international stage. The senator instead suggested that Chinese communists be called out for being \u201cmurderers,\u201d \u201ctorturers,\u201d running \u201cconcentration camps,\u201d and covering up the Chinese coronavirus, among other things.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cJimmy Carter boycotted the Olympics in 1980. It was a dismal failure; it didn\u2019t work,\u201d Cruz told Breitbart News editor-in-chief Alex Marlow last week at&nbsp;Turning Point USA\u2019s AmericaFest in Phoenix, Arizona.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cAnd I don\u2019t think it\u2019s fair to punish a bunch of young athletes \u2014 young men and women \u2014 who have spent their entire lives training for just this brief moment to compete on the international stage,\u201d the senator added. \u201cI\u2019m not willing to destroy their dreams.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Cruz went on to say that this \u201cdoesn\u2019t mean&nbsp;that we should be unwilling to confront China.\u201d<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_18726410\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/GettyImages-1231396716.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-18726410\" src=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/11\/GettyImages-1231396716.png\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-caption-text\">People wear protective masks as they walk in front the logos of the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics at Yanqing Ice Festival on February 26, 2021, in Beijing, China. (Photo by Lintao Zhang\/Getty Images)<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n<p>\u201cI think we should call out China,\u201d he said. \u201cThey are murderers, they are torturers, they have concentration camps with over one million Uyghurs, they engage in espionage, they engage in fraud, they covered up COVID and have direct responsibility for the hundreds of thousands of lives lost, the trillions of dollars destroyed.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The senator suggested that the Olympics also be used as an opportunity to \u201cshine a light&nbsp;on China\u2019s abuses, but also let our athletes go there and kick their commie asses.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Marlow mentioned that while news outlets, such as Breitbart, will cover China\u2019s abuses, \u201ca lot of these corporations that control our media, they love working with China.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think the corporate sponsors oughta cut their money,\u201d Cruz responded. \u201cWe\u2019ve seen in the past that the corporate media, they are corrupt. They are China shills. They\u2019re in bed with China.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>For a more lighthearted question, Marlow asked Cruz, \u201cWhat is Jimmy Kimmel\u2019s problem with you? You played hoops, you beat him, I thought that was the truce.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B3\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<p><em><strong>Watch Below:<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"video-src-attr\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/author\/matt-perdie\/\">Matt Perdie<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u201cHe\u2019s just a little bit obsessed,\u201d Cruz said. \u201cSometimes there are weeks where it seems like every night he goes on and his monologue is coming after me.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMost recently, he posted this really horrific photoshopped video of my head on a naked body of some other dude, riding an enormous hotdog,\u201d the senator laughed. \u201cI don\u2019t even want to know where his mind is taking him.
