But this practice may be delivering diminished returns after financial services corporation, The Change Company, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/colin-kaepernick-spac-deal-collapses-testing-celebrity-halo-11640373559?mod=flipboard\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">canceled<\/a> its deal with the former player because he refused to engage in interviews to promote the collaboration, according to the <i>Wall Street Journal<\/i>.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>Kaepernick has made millions with his SPAC group by partnering with companies that only want to use his name to enhance their standing in the business world. An SPCA, or a special-purpose acquisition company, is an operation that has no specific product except a celebrity name. The purpose of the SPAC is to merge with a company that has an actual service or product line so that the celebrity name can help grow the business with which the SPAC merges. (Photo by Leon Bennett\/Getty Images for Netflix)<\/em><\/p>\n<p>But according to the <i>Journal<\/i>, Kaepernick refused to go through with interviews with several print media outlets nor would he do an interview with ABC\u2019s George Stephanopoulos on <i>Good Morning America<\/i> so he could promote the business deal.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>Kaepernick\u2019s SPAC could have made as much as $80 million if the deal with The Change Company had been consummated.<\/p>\n<p>The whole mess spurred Change Company CEO Steve Sugarman to wonder if Kaepernick\u2019s name was worth spending millions to acquire.<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/colin-kaepernick-speaks-onstage-during-the-netflix-limited-series-in-picture-id1349924533\" alt=\"Colin Kaepernick speaks onstage during the Netflix Limited Series &quot;Colin in Black and White&quot; Premiere at Los Angeles County Museum of Art on October...\" \/><\/p>\n<p><em>LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA \u2013 OCTOBER 28: Colin Kaepernick speaks onstage during the Netflix Limited Series \u201cColin in Black and White\u201d Premiere at Los Angeles County Museum of Art on October 28, 2021 in Los Angeles, California. (Photo by Leon Bennett\/Getty Images for Netflix)<\/em><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere is a real question about whether there is [a] halo effect that translates into investor dollars,\u201d Sugarman wrote in an email. \u201cWe need to question that assumption.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The question of whether or not there is mounting Kaepernick fatigue out there is an interesting one. As each year passes, the former player becomes more radical in his proclamations about American culture. In November, for instance, he <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/sports\/2021\/11\/19\/colin-kaepernick-says-rittenhouse-verdict-validates-terrorist-acts-white-supremacist\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">called<\/a> the acquittal of Kyle Rittenhosue a \u201cvalidation of the terrorist acts of a white supremacist.\u201d That same month, he <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/sports\/2021\/11\/01\/nfl-slavery-kaepernick-still-cashing-checks-from-nike-which-accused-using-slave-labor-china\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">claimed<\/a> that playing for the NFL was somehow \u201cjust like\u201d slavery.
