According to our source, the person is a 15-year-old child who fell off a balcony from Deck 16 and landed onto the promenade on Deck 8.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>The captain issued the \u201cMan Overboard on the port side\u201d announcement over the vessel\u2019s PA system and instructed guests to return to their cabins and avoid public areas.<\/p>\n<p>A passenger reportedly stated, \u201cWe just had 3 emergency blasts following captain\u2019s announcement \u2018Man Overboard\u2019. People started running to the sides to investigate what happen, although it\u2019s night time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cA crew member came to our cabin and instructed us to close the balcony door and draw the blinds. Police will board tomorrow when we return to Miami to investigate this tragic event,\u201d the website quoted the individual as saying.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>Video footage appeared to&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=LBL0h9pN6GY\">show<\/a> a passenger aboard the ship recording as the captain issued the announcement:<\/p>\n[embedded content]\n<p>\u201cMan overboard, man overboard, man overboard, port side,\u201d the captain was apparently heard telling passengers.<\/p>\n<p>According to Fox News, MSC <a href=\"https:\/\/www.foxnews.com\/us\/teen-dies-after-falling-overboard-cruise-ship-miami\">responded<\/a> to the incident in a statement, noting that \u201cA young man travelling with his family on board MSC Seashore appears to have died of suicide Wednesday evening.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur team immediately notified authorities and our care team is assisting the young man\u2019s family on board.&nbsp;All of us at MSC Cruises are heartbroken. The family remains in our thoughts and prayers,\u201d the statement added.<\/p>\n<p>CBS Miami <a href=\"https:\/\/miami.cbslocal.com\/2021\/12\/24\/death-onboard-msc-cruise-ship-investigated-as-suicide\/\">confirmed<\/a> that officials were investigating the incident as an apparent suicide.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, a Miami-Dade Police Department detective told Fox officers responded at approximately 7 a.m. Thursday to Port Miami.
