Version: 4.0.47--><div><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/GettyImages-1237415414-e1640444372723-640x335-1.jpg\" class=\"ff-og-image-inserted\" alt=\"image\" \/><\/div>\n<p class=\"subheading\">UK Ministers are reportedly set to meet as early as Monday in order to discuss implementing new lockdown rules, despite criticisms of the government doomsday modelling predictions.<\/p>\n<p>Amid concerns over the omicron variant of the Chinese coronavirus, British ministers are set to convene by as soon as Monday to possibly reimpose new lockdown restrictions in England.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>Dire modelling projections conducted by the&nbsp;Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies (SAGE) \u2014 which advises the government on the Wuhan virus \u2014 &nbsp;have reportedly spooked the government into considering more lockdown measures,&nbsp;according to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/world\/2021\/dec\/24\/decision-on-stricter-covid-rules-for-england-may-come-on-monday\">report<\/a> by <em>The Guardian<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>The SAGE modelling has warned that coronavirus&nbsp;hospitalisations could reach as many as <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/world\/2021\/dec\/18\/uk-scientists-curbs-covid-infections-omicron-deaths-restrictions-sage\">10,000 per day<\/a>, alongside 600 to 6,000 deaths per day should the country remain relatively free of restrictions.<\/p>\n<p>The reports provided outcome scenarios should England be plunged into varying lengths of lockdowns, including from the starting point of December 28th to either&nbsp;January 15th or January 28th, or even until March 28th.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>The scientific quango said that the government should consider a ban on indoor dining, as well as a ban on meeting people from other households indoors, though it is thought that outdoor mixing will still be permitted.<\/p>\n<p>One government source was keen to play down down the possibility of such restrictions, however, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.telegraph.co.uk\/news\/2021\/12\/24\/omicron-still-serious-threat-despite-reduced-hospital-risk-expert\/\">telling<\/a>&nbsp;<em>The Telegraph<\/em>&nbsp;that the published government papers had not yet been submitted to ministers for consideration.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">UK Govt to Text Every Phone in the Country with Boxing Day Corona Booster Reminder <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/S2v0Sc3Q5Y\">https:\/\/t.co\/S2v0Sc3Q5Y<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Breitbart London (@BreitbartLondon) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BreitbartLondon\/status\/1474670785088344066?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">December 25, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>SAGE\u2019s modelling has under increasing public criticism, including from Prime Minister Boris Johnson\u2019s own party.<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this week, former Conservative Party leader Sir Iain Duncan Smith <a href=\"https:\/\/www.thetimes.co.uk\/article\/70896fa2-6424-11ec-ab46-99cae2b0f128?shareToken=b70c69ae25b764fe92cfc0fdac6b7504\">said<\/a> that the government should not \u201clurch\u201d into an economic crisis just for the \u201csake of supposition by scientists\u201d.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B3\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<p>Senior Tory backbencher and prominent lockdown critic, Sir Charles Walker said:&nbsp;\u201cWhat had undermined the science and people\u2019s faith in the scientists has been the aggressive use of ultra-worst case scenario modelling.
