The suspect used a handgun that his father had just bought him as an early Christmas present on Black Friday.<\/p>\n<p>The suspect\u2019s parents were arrested after an active search, and face their own criminal charges.<\/p>\n<p>The Daily Wire reported that at least two lawsuits have been filed by survivors of the shooting, who are seeking $100 million each. Detroit\u2019s WXYZ-TV <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wxyz.com\/news\/oxford-school-shooting\/100-million-lawsuits-filed-against-oxford-school-district-employees-after-shooting\">reported<\/a>:<\/p>\n<p><em>The lawsuits have been filed by Attorney Geoffrey Fieger on behalf of a student who was shot in the neck and her sister, who was with her when she was shot.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>On top of the district, those in the lawsuit include the district superintendent, the Oxford High School principal, dean of students, two counselors, two teachers and a staff member.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The Daily Wire&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/michigan-school-shooting-suspect-likely-had-gun-in-backpack-during-parent-teacher-meeting-before-attack\">previously reported<\/a>&nbsp;that the alleged shooter likely had the handgun in his backpack during a meeting with teachers and parents just hours before the shooting:<\/p>\n<p><em>McDonald told&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/AC360\/status\/1466587311622303746\">CNN<\/a>&nbsp;on Thursday that there was a \u201cvery strong possibility\u201d the suspect was already carrying the weapon during a meeting with his parents and school officials earlier in the day before the shooting.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cI think that it\u2019s already been public that he did have the weapon. During COVID, they don\u2019t use lockers, so they just have backpacks,\u201d McDonald said.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cAnd unfortunately, he was allowed to get back to class. And we now know he had a weapon with him at that time.
