Ron DeSantis (R) released a Christmas message ahead of the holiday, reminding Americans how blessed they are to live in a country that \u201cprotects our right to celebrate the birth of Christ freely.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFor unto us a child is born. For unto us a son is given, and the government shall be upon his shoulder. His name shall be called Wonderful, Counselor, the Mighty God, the Everlasting Father, the Prince of Peace,\u201d the governor began.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cThe first Christmas in America was celebrated just down the street from the Florida Capitol in what was then Spanish Florida,\u201d he continued.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cMuch has changed over the ensuing centuries, yet Christmas still endures as a time for redemption, grace, hope, and love. How blessed we are as a people to live in a country that protects our right to celebrate the birth of Christ freely,\u201d he continued.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur state has grown considerably in recent years, but I\u2019ve been assured that Santa Claus will make all scheduled deliveries and I\u2019ve instructed state law enforcement to assist Santa with anything he needs,\u201d he added, wishing everyone a \u201cvery Merry Christmas\u201d from his family, Casey, Madison, Mason, and&nbsp;Mamie.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Florida Gov.
