Version: 4.0.47--><div><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/GettyImages-1210677695-640x335-1.png\" class=\"ff-og-image-inserted\" alt=\"image\" \/><\/div>\n<p class=\"subheading\">Two thousand flights have been canceled Christmas Eve in relation to the omicron variant, according to flight-tracking site FlightAware.<\/p>\n<p>As President Biden promised to \u201cshut down the virus\u201d during the 2020 presidential campaign, nearly a year later omicron is <a href=\"https:\/\/flightaware.com\/live\/cancelled\/\">impacting<\/a> airlines\u2019 ability to transport Christmas travelers in a timely fashion.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>FlightAware shows about 1,175 flights have already been canceled for Saturday, Christmas Day.<\/p>\n<p>United Airlines <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/united-delta-cancel-some-flights-as-omicron-spreads-11640308603\">told<\/a>&nbsp;the <em>Wall Street Journal<\/em>&nbsp;that flight crews and operational employees are in short supply due to omicron exposure.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe nationwide spike in Omicron cases this week has had a direct impact on our flight crews and the people who run our operation,\u201d United Airlines told the <em>Journal<\/em>.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>Delta Air Lines revealed to the publication they are canceling flights because of \u201cbad weather in some areas,\u201d along with the omicron variant.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDelta teams have exhausted all options and resources\u2014including rerouting and substitutions of aircraft and crews to cover scheduled flying\u2014before canceling around 90 flights for Friday,\u201d the airline said.<\/p>\n<p>The omicron chaos is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.wsj.com\/articles\/airlines-prepare-for-busy-travel-week-despite-omicron-surge-11640082602?mod=article_inline\">impacting<\/a>&nbsp;one of the busiest travel weekends since the pandemic reached American shores.<\/p>\n<p>In the weeks before and after Christmas, United Airlines&nbsp;estimated it will&nbsp;transport an average of 420,000 passengers, or five percent more volume than over Thanksgiving weekend.<\/p>\n<p>Delta said they will transport 7.8 million consumers during about the same period of time, the most volume since 2019 and more than twice the amount during the 2020 Christmas season.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B3\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<p>Many companies in the airline sector have implemented very harsh vaccine mandates on their labor force.<\/p>\n<p>Delta has instituted a monthly fine of $200 for employees who remain unvaccinated.<\/p>\n<p>And out of United\u2019s nearly 67,000 workforce,&nbsp;2,000 remain unvaccinated, but United has effectively fired those employees by placing them on indefinite unpaid leave.<\/p>\n<p>Senators&nbsp;<a title=\"This external link will open in a new window\" href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2021\/12\/16\/exclusive-airline-employees-4-health-freedom-sen-ted-cruz-spot-on-slamming-united-airlines-ceos-shameful-treatment-of-employees\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">grilled<\/a>&nbsp;United CEO Scott Kirby on this decision on December 15.
