10 to 15 people, the fired worker disputed the claim, telling DailyMail.com that \u201cthere were more than 100 people on the conference call where she learned her fate, and sharing shocking video in which the line could be heard erupting in outrage.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\"><em>Shocking video of one of the calls shows a manager telling workers on the call: \u201cWe want to thank you for your time with us and for helping us make the season a success.\u201d&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cRight after this call we want you to clock out,\u201d the manager adds, as the conference call can be heard exploding with outraged remarks from the fired workers.&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n<p class=\"mol-para-with-font\"><em>\u201cYou\u2019re doing this on Christmas week, whose idea was this?\u201d asks the worker filming the call. \u201cThis is not open for discussion, we\u2019re not having this conversation,\u201d the manager responds.&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>The Williams-Sonoma spokeswoman said seasonal employment can end at any time and that workers they let go had completed their assignments for the season. \u201cWith a lot of seasonal work, the bulk of the work takes place prior to Christmas,\u201d the spokeswoman said. \u201cThere\u2019s nothing that promises the end date of the seasonal assignment.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But the fired employee said that the terminations came more than a month before workers were expecting their temporary employment wrap up at the end of January. \u201cThis whole work from home culture now, there\u2019s such a lack of respect for workers,\u201d she told DailyMail.com. \u201cIt was just really awful to be treated this way.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The mass terminations came just a couple weeks after more than 900 employees of mortgage company Better.com were invited to a Zoom webinar, where CEO Vishal Garg announced they would all be fired effective immediately.<\/p>\n<p>CNN Business&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2021\/12\/05\/business\/better-ceo-fires-employees\/index.html?utm_source=facebook&amp;utm_medium=news_tab\">reviewed<\/a>&nbsp;a recording of the call, in which the employees were fired just weeks before the holidays.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIf you\u2019re on this call, you are part of the unlucky group that is being laid off,\u201d Garg said during the meeting. \u201cYour employment here is terminated effective immediately.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He also told the employees that they would be receiving an email from the human resources department detailing their benefits and severance, the Daily Wire <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/mortgage-company-ceo-fires-900-employees-via-zoom-including-diversity-hiring-team\">reported<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Garg then told the people on the call that market efficiency, performance, and productivity were the reasons they were being fired. Fortune&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/fortune.com\/2021\/12\/03\/better-com-ceo-attacks-laid-off-employees-blind-message-board\/\">reported<\/a>&nbsp;that days after the firing, Garg \u201cposted a series of messages seen by&nbsp;<em>Fortune&nbsp;<\/em>on an anonymous professional network,\u201d in which he accused the fired employees of \u201cstealing\u201d from coworkers and customers due to their unproductivity.
