The guy who gave us the beautifully anti-social and inappropriate <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/entertainment\/2010\/04\/23\/review-kick-ass-is-not-just-for-libertarians\/\">Kick-Ass<\/a><\/em> (2010), <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/entertainment\/2015\/02\/13\/kingsman-review-satisfying-stylized-vengeance-against-the-left-wing-elite\/\">Kingsman: The Secret Service<\/a><\/em> (2015), and <em><a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/entertainment\/2017\/09\/22\/kingsman-golden-circle-review-big-ideas-wrapped-cinematic-blast-fun\/\">Kingsman: The Golden Circle<\/a><\/em> (2017) is now serving up <em>The King\u2019s Man<\/em>, a pile of dull, exhausting, oh-so-serious woketardery?<\/p>\n<p>Vaughn is either in the midst of an identity crisis or allowed a bunch of producers and money men to castrate his own franchise.&nbsp;<em>The King\u2019s Man<\/em> has no idea what it wants to be, is over-plotted beyond belief, and has the gall to be part of the <em>Kingsman<\/em> franchise and then bloat itself with pretension.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>This prequel is being sold as an origin story about the founding of the Kingsman, a secret organization of super spies unattached to any government. Except <em>King\u2019s Man<\/em> is not about that. Instead, it\u2019s about Duke Orlando Oxford (Ralph Fiennes), a rich, English guy-turned-pacifist (by a personal tragedy) who\u2019s determined to trick America into entering World War I.<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Watch below:&nbsp;<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n[embedded content]\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>That\u2019s not a typo. Oxford is a pacifist who spends most of the movie scheming to get the U.S. into a war. That\u2019s how confused this stinker is.<\/p>\n<p>It gets worse. Oxford teaches his son Conrad (Harris Dickinson) to be a ruthless fighting machine while using his privilege and position to ensure Conrad never uses those skills (?) and escapes the draft \u2026 you know, even as he schemes to push the U.S. into a war that will eventually kill some 150,000 American boys.<\/p>\n<p>The whole movie is bipolar\u2026<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_19241138\" class=\"wp-caption alignleft\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/kings-man-2.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-19241138\" src=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/kings-man-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"960\" height=\"540\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"wp-caption-text\"><em>Ralph Fiennes and&nbsp;Harris Dickinson in The King\u2019s Man. (20th Century Studios)<\/em><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>In one scene, we\u2019re being lectured about privilege and colonialism (this from a franchise that gave us a princess who likes it <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=2--K85dTZxU\">in the butt<\/a>), and then in the next, Rasputin (Rhys Ifans) is licking Oxford\u2019s leg.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B3\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<p>We have a black servant (Djimon Hounsou \u2014 whose presence elevates everything), and he\u2019s subservient to Oxford. But then we have a female servant character (Gemma Arterton) who\u2019s an obnoxious mix of a strident Karen and perfectly smug Mary Sue.&nbsp;<em>Boys are so messy<\/em>, she says, after saving the men \u2026 again. The only thing in her butt is a six-foot steel pole. She is beyond unappealing and awful.<\/p>\n<p>We have action sequences staged as over-the-top fun and are then bludgeoned with <em>super-serious<\/em> sequences about how awful war and violence are.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>Excess becomes sentiment.<\/p>\n<p>Hyper-violence becomes anti-violence.<\/p>\n<p>My butt becomes numb.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B4\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<p>The plot is ridiculous, but unlike the previous chapters, <em>not in a good way<\/em>. For whatever reason, instead of honoring what came before with fictional villains right out of the James Bond franchise (before the James Bond franchise sucked), Vaughn decided to set this story within the real geopolitics of World War I. But rather than simplify that complicated time, Vaughn\u2019s opening forty minutes are a tortuous and episodic jumble of plot machinations that has Oxford reacting instead of making things happen. As a result, we\u2019re probably an hour in before the movie settles down, figures out what it\u2019s about, and comes up with a goal.<\/p>\n<p>All the rudeness, the zest, the glorious \u201cscrew you\u201d attitude\u2026 It\u2019s all gone and replaced by the very same dull and properly PC traits Vaughn has spent a career lifting a middle finger.
