Jurors have reached a \u201ctrial outcome,\u201d according to <a href=\"https:\/\/minnesota.cbslocal.com\/2021\/12\/23\/jurors-reach-trial-outcome-in-ex-officer-kim-potters-manslaughter-trial\/\">CBS Minnesota<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>It is unclear whether the jury has arrived at a verdict or if the jury has decided to end deliberation on a hopeless deadlock. If the jury comes back hung, prosecutors may decide to try Potter\u2019s case over again in front of a new jury later.<\/p>\n<p>As jury deliberation stretched into multiple days, speculation spread that the jury may be deadlocked on a decision after Potter\u2019s emotional testimony last week. During her testimony, Potter <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/breaking-watch-former-police-officer-kim-potter-breaks-down-describing-moment-she-shot-daunte-wright\">broke down<\/a> multiple times, at one point breaking down into apologies for what happened.<\/p>\n<p>Potter\u2019s defense team has never contested that she mistakenly pulled her gun when she meant to pull her taser, and that that mistake led to the death of Daunte Wright, a 20-year-old black man, as he tried to flee police officers on April 11. Instead, the defense has painted a sympathetic picture of a person stuck in a chaotic and dangerous situation where split-second decisions had to be made.<\/p>\n<p>The prosecution argued that Potter\u2019s lethal mistake is inexcusable.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis was no oopsie, this not putting the wrong date on a check, this was not entering the wrong password, this was a colossal screw-up, a blunder of epic proportions, it was precisely the thing she was warned about for years, it was irreversible and it was fatal,\u201d prosecutor Erin Eldridge said in closing arguments on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>Potter is facing charges of first and second-degree manslaughter over Wright\u2019s death. Potter broke down in tears multiple times on Friday, once apologizing for what happened after facing a grilling from Eldridge. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/im-so-sorry-former-police-officer-kim-potter-weeps-under-grilling-by-prosecutors\">exchange<\/a> went as follows:<\/p>\n<p><em>Erin Eldridge: You\u2019d agree that, as a police officer, you have the duty to render aid and communicate information to other officers, right?<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Kim Potter: Yes.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>EE: And it\u2019s part of your job to assist those who are hurt or injured. True?<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>KP: Yes.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>EE: And to communicate to other officers what you know about a particular scene, right?<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>KP: Yes.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>EE: Give them whatever information you can to help them do their jobs to help render assistance, things like that. Right?<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>KP: Yes.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>EE: But you didn\u2019t do any of those things on April 11, did you?<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>KP: No.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>EE: You stopped doing your job completely. You didn\u2019t communicate what happened over the radio, right?<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>KP: No.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>EE: You didn\u2019t make sure any officers knew what you had just done, right?<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>KP: No.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>EE: You didn\u2019t run down the street and try to save Daunte Wright\u2019s life, did you?<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>KP: No.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>EE: You didn\u2019t check on the other car that had been hit, did you?<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>KP: No.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>EE: That all happened just down the road from you.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>KP: Yes.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>EE: You were focused on what you had done because you had just killed somebody.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>KP: I\u2019m sorry it happened.
