At this time, emergency vehicles and smoke may be noticeable to the community. Three individuals at the refinery were transported by helicopter. One additional person was taken to a local hospital by ambulance. No deaths were reported in the incident.<\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"en\">There have been 4 confirmed injuries, 3 of which were life flighted and 1 was taken to the hospital via ambulance. No fatalities have been reported. The cause of the incident has not yet been revealed.<\/p>\n<p>The company\u2019s statement said:<\/p>\n<p><em>A fire has occurred at the Baytown Refinery. &nbsp;Our fire teams are working to extinguish the fire. We are conducting personnel accounting.&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>Our first priority remains the safety of people, including our employees, contractors and the surrounding community.&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>&nbsp;As a precaution, we are beginning to conduct air quality monitoring at the site and fence line.&nbsp;<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>We are cooperating with regulatory agencies.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>We deeply regret any disruption or inconvenience that this incident may have caused the community.<\/em><\/p>\n<p dir=\"ltr\" lang=\"und\"><a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/GE8zclZHeW\">pic.twitter.com\/GE8zclZHeW<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 ExxonMobil Baytown Area (@ExxonMobilBTA) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/ExxonMobilBTA\/status\/1473993738817056771?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">December 23, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe Baytown&nbsp;plant houses a chemical plant, an olefins plant, and the country\u2019s fourth biggest oil refinery, with capacity to process 560,500 barrels per day of crude,\u201d according to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.reuters.com\/world\/us\/some-injuries-after-fire-exxons-baytown-texas-facility-2021-12-23\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Reuters<\/a> report.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe fire occurred in a hydrotreater unit at the oil refinery that was shut on Wednesday due to a bypass line leak, sources familiar with plant operations said, adding that those injured were contractors who had been repairing the leak,\u201d the report added: Local <a href=\"https:\/\/www.khou.com\/article\/news\/local\/baytown-exxon-mobil-fire\/285-028ba726-525e-4aff-97b2-8fb7c9bbf06f\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">KHOU-TV<\/a> reported, \u201cExxonMobil\u2019s Baytown facility sits on around 3,400 acres along the Houston Ship Channel. It has four manufacturing sites.
