We request the opportunity to meet with you to discuss our proposal in greater detail and how we can work together to meet the needs of the American people during this persistent pandemic.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Schumer, however, told the New York Daily News that Republicans should &#8220;negotiate with us&#8221; instead of making &#8220;a take-it-or-leave-it offer.&#8221;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cIf the reports are true, it doesn\u2019t have any state and local money in it. Look at that, just as one thing,\u201d said Schumer.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Were Democrats to agree with the plan from the GOP senators, they\u2019d likely have enough votes to pass it. However, some lawmakers, such as incoming Senate Budget Committee Chairman Bernie Sanders (I-VT), have been advocating for Democrats to pass a COVID-19 relief bill through \u201creconciliation,\u201d <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnn.com\/2021\/01\/31\/politics\/bernie-sanders-reconciliation-covid-relief\/index.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">according<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> to CNN. That process allows certain spending or tax bills to pass through the Senate with a simple majority, without the threat of a filibuster.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cI support passing COVID relief with support from Republicans if we can get it,\u201d Biden told reporters at the White House on Friday, reports the <a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/joe-biden-ap-top-news-coronavirus-pandemic-bb7f90e28ab160cba510df3b40723fe5\">Associated Press<\/a>. &#8220;But the COVID relief has to pass \u2014 no ifs, ands, or buts.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Schumer also told the New York Daily News that most Republicans either don\u2019t want to do anything or want to do the minimal amount.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cPresident Biden believes, and I agree with him, we need a bold, strong action. Now, we\u2019d like to do that with the Republicans, but if we can\u2019t, we\u2019ll have to go forward on our own using this process, reconciliation,\u201d said Schumer.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The ten GOP senators <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u2014<\/span> <span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Susan Collins (R-ME), Lisa Murkowski (R-AK), Bill Cassidy (R-LA), Mitt Romney (R-UT), Rob Portman (R-OH), Shelley Moore Capito (R-WV), Todd Young (R-IN), Jerry Moran (R-KS), Mike Rounds (R-SD), and Thom Tillis (R-NC) <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u2014<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> said in the letter to Biden that more details about the counter-offer would be released Monday. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cWe recognize your calls for unity and want to work in good faith with your Administration to meet the health, economic, and societal challenges of the COVID crisis,\u201d they concluded.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The Daily Wire is one of America\u2019s fastest-growing conservative media companies and counter-cultural outlets for news, opinion, and entertainment.
