Catherine Cortez Masto (D-NV) and Raphael Warnock (D-GA) amid President Joe Biden\u2019s dismal approval ratings. NBC News first <a href=\"https:\/\/www.nbcnews.com\/politics\/elections\/republicans-could-flip-two-senate-seats-georgia-nevada-new-gop-n1286469\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">reported<\/a> on the memo.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>Laxalt, who previously served as Nevada attorney general, had a four-point edge over Cortez Masto, 46 percent to 42 percent, according to the memo. Laxalt\u2019s lead coincided with 39 percent of the poll respondents approving of the way Biden was handling his job and 56 percent disapproving. 29 percent of Nevadans said they believed the country was heading in the right direction.<\/p>\n<p>In Georgia, football legend Walker held a one-point lead over Warnock, 49 percent to 48 percent. Biden\u2019s job approval rating was only slightly better in Georgia, where 42 percent approved of his job handling and 55 percent disapproved. Right in line with Nevada were the percentage of Georgians \u2014 28 percent \u2014 who thought the country was heading in the right direction.<\/p>\n<p>Laxalt and Walker are both favored to win their Republican primary races, according to current fundraising and polling numbers.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>NRSC Executive Director Jackie Schutz Zeckman expressed optimism in the memo, describing the polling results as \u201cexciting\u201d and an indication of \u201cmomentum\u201d as Republicans gear up for what could be&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.cookpolitical.com\/ratings\/senate-race-ratings\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">nine<\/a> contentious races next year in their quest to take majority of the Senate, which is currently split dead evenly at 50\u201350.<\/p>\n<p>Laxalt, too, has conveyed confidence in Republicans\u2019 position ahead of next year\u2019s races, posting a photo on social media in November of himself and Walker saying they were the \u201c51st and 52nd Senator for the next GOP majority.\u201d<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">The 51st and 52nd Senator for the next GOP majority.<\/p>\n<p>Great seeing <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/HerschelWalker?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@HerschelWalker<\/a> at the <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/RJC?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@RJC<\/a> in Las Vegas! <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/GYDfiWYvIM\">pic.twitter.com\/GYDfiWYvIM<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Adam Paul Laxalt (@AdamLaxalt) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/AdamLaxalt\/status\/1457148165434462208?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">November 7, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Though both carried name recognition in their states ahead of launching their bids for office, Laxalt and Walker have been further elevated by endorsements from former President Donald Trump.<\/p>\n<p>Trump endorsed Laxalt in August, praising the former attorney general for serving in the Navy in Iraq and for fighting \u201cvaliantly against Election Fraud,\u201d as well as for his stance on issues including crime and border security. Trump endorsed Walker in September, saying the former star athlete \u201cembodies \u2018America First\u2019 and the winning spirit of Georgia.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In the NRSC memo, Zeckman also drew a correlation between the current president\u2019s unpopularity and the midterm elections, specifically pointing to Biden\u2019s multitrillion-dollar legislative agenda, <a href=\"https:\/\/abcnews.go.com\/US\/12-major-us-cities-top-annual-homicide-records\/story?id=81466453\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">surging<\/a> violent crime in urban areas, and an overwhelmed southern border, where border patrol officials are <a href=\"https:\/\/www.cbp.gov\/newsroom\/stats\/southwest-land-border-encounters\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">nearing<\/a> a jaw-dropping two million illegal migrant encounters in 2021.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDemocrat incumbents have supported the liberal Biden agenda of trillions of dollars in new inflation-inducing spending, higher taxes for middle-class families and job creators, rampant crime, an out-of-control border crisis, and foreign policy disasters across the globe,\u201d Zeckman wrote. \u201cVoters are holding them accountable.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>She added that \u201cRepublican candidates are well-positioned to take advantage of the current political environment and the NRSC, bolstered by our record-breaking fundraising, will do whatever is needed to support our candidates across the country and define the Democrats early.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Nevada poll was conducted by the Tarrance Group from November 14 to 17 with a sample size of 600.
