The worst thing would be government imposed shutdowns of the facilities because it would spike shortages.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Mason discussed the threat of \u201cRegu-flation\u201d \u2014 defined to the outlet as \u201cwhen increased operational and production costs, imposed by expanded government regulation, combine with already rampant inflation in the marketplace.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe same government that told you food inflation was a mere 5.4% despite evidence to the contrary also told you the pain you\u2019re feeling at the grocery checkout is \u2018transitory,\u2019 or temporary,\u201d Mason added. \u201cIt\u2019s not. Food prices will continue to accelerate and are likely to outpace the rate of overall inflation due to the reasons I\u2019ve outlined above, none of which are going away. Welcome to the era of \u2018Regu-flation,\u2019 where rules and policy make it more expensive to eat.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Earlier this month, the Bureau of Labor Statistics <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/breaking-inflation-skyrockets-to-6-8-higher-than-expected-fastest-rate-in-nearly-40-years\">revealed<\/a> that consumer price inflation in the United States has reached a rate of 6.8% \u2014 the largest year-over-year increase since June 1982, as well as the sixth straight month in which inflation remained above 5%. Prices for meat, poultry, and fish have <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/gas-up-58-meat-up-13-inside-the-newest-record-breaking-inflation-report\">risen<\/a> by 13.1%, while fruit and vegetable prices have risen by 4%.<\/p>\n<p>In response, Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) \u2014 rather than emphasizing the inflationary impact of Federal Reserve policy or the Democratic Party\u2019s spending agenda \u2014 is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/elizabeth-warren-is-now-blaming-grocery-conglomerates-for-skyrocketing-food-prices\">blaming<\/a> large grocery store companies for prioritizing profit.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cGiant grocery store chains force high food prices onto American families while rewarding executives &amp; investors with lavish bonuses and stock buybacks. I\u2019m demanding they answer for putting corporate profits over consumers and workers during the pandemic,\u201d the lawmaker tweeted on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>Days earlier, Warren said that \u201ccorporate greed\u201d is responsible for a surge in car prices.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis market concentration has reduced competition, allowing giant corporations to deliver massive returns for shareholders,\u201d Warren wrote in a letter to Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo. \u201cBut it has harmed consumers by enabling these dominant companies to increase prices and underinvest in key capabilities, which has the effect of also reducing product innovation and product quality.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday, Warren <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/dismissing-inflation-concerns-warren-asks-the-doj-to-probe-poultry-companies-for-corporate-greed-in-raising-turkey-prices\">accused<\/a> Tyson and other poultry companies of \u201cprice fixing,\u201d \u201cexcessive consolidation,\u201d and \u201cplain-old corporate greed\u201d as meat prices reached record highs.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cLack of competition in the poultry industry is allowing these massive companies to squeeze both American consumers and farmers to fuel record corporate profits and payouts to shareholders,\u201d she said in a letter to Assistant Attorney General Jonathan Kanter. \u201cWhen companies have monopoly power as massive suppliers, they can jack up prices of the goods they sell.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The Daily Wire is one of America\u2019s fastest-growing conservative media companies and counter-cultural outlets for news, opinion, and entertainment.
