But even the most optimistic industry experts are shocked over just how much cash \u201cSpider-Man\u201d has raked in so far.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>As of Monday, the movie had earned close to $300 million. This massive success came during an ongoing pandemic and, most recently, the spike of the Omicron variant which led to more restrictions on leisure activities and more people opting to stay home. Plus, \u201cSpider-Man\u201d stuck with a theatrical release with no streaming component.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The Hollywood Reporter <a href=\"https:\/\/www.hollywoodreporter.com\/movies\/movie-news\/spider-man-no-way-home-box-office-is-mixed-blessing-for-hollywood-1235066038\/\">called<\/a> the movie\u2019s popularity a \u201cmixed blessing of sorts.\u201d While it did bode well for future movie releases in a post-pandemic world, at least one analyst claims it will increase the divide between superhero movies and every other genre.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is very much a one movie marketplace as \u2018Spider-Man: No Way Home\u2019 operating in an alternative multi-verse where concerns over COVID don\u2019t exist, is for now leaving the box-office crumbs for all the other movies to share,\u201d Comscore\u2019s Paul Dergarabedian told the publication.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>For context, those crumbs are a very small percentage of total movie revenue. \u201cNo Way Home\u201d dominated the box office opening weekend, accounting for 92% of all revenue. Comparing that to another smash hit like \u201cAvengers: Endgame\u201d which took 88% or \u201cStar Wars: The Rise of Skywalker\u201d which had 70% gives a true picture of how extreme these results truly are.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cNo Way Home\u201d was then compared to contemporary releases including \u201cNightmare Alley\u201d and \u201cWest Side Story,\u201d which performed below expectations and leagues behind the new \u201cSpider-Man\u201d installment.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>As of Monday, \u201cNo Way Home\u201d continued to account for the lion\u2019s share of total revenue with 90%. \u201cIs that a healthy marketplace? No,\u201d a source told THR. \u201cThere needs to be more depth in the marketplace.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>While the new \u201cSpider-Man\u201d keeps dominating, film industry experts have a close eye on upcoming releases including \u201cSing 2,\u201d \u201cThe Matrix: Resurrections,\u201d and \u201cThe King\u2019s Man.\u201d None are likely to come close to the success of \u201cNo Way Home\u201d though.<\/p>\n<p>Besides just being a superhero movie, \u201cNo Way Home\u201d has been heralded as being a film for the fans that\u2019s lacking an overt <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/spider-man-no-way-home-suggests-movie-fans-are-fed-up-with-woke-propaganda\">political agenda<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The Observer called it, \u201cAn overflowing, funnel-web cornucopia of treats for Spider-fans.\u201d Meanwhile, a ReelViews critic said, \u201cAs superhero movies go, this one offers its share of satisfying moments and is guaranteed to warm the heart of any Spider-Man movie fan, regardless of when their fandom started.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The reviewer at Breitbart took a blunt approach. John Nolte said, \u201cNewsflash: If you make a decent movie that seeks to entertain and move \u2014 instead of lecture and shame \u2014 we will show up.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>He continued: \u201c\u2018Spider-Man: No Way Home\u2019 does precisely that. You will not only have a great time at the movies again, but there\u2019s no gay, transsexual, or racial nonsense.
