A timeline of Biden\u2019s statements regarding COVID-19 demonstrates that \u2014 to coin his verbiage \u2014 his \u201cplan\u201d for COVID-19 is a bunch of &#8216;malarkey,&#8217; based solely on political opportunism rather than an intention to deliver, and changing immediately in the face of inconvenient evidence.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>January 27, 2020<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Joe Biden wrote an <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/opinion\/2020\/01\/27\/coronavirus-donald-trump-made-us-less-prepared-joe-biden-column\/4581710002\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">opinion piece<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> in USA Today, titled \u201cTrump is worst possible leader to deal with coronavirus outbreak.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cI remember how Trump sought to stoke fear and stigma during the 2014 Ebola epidemic,\u201d Biden wrote, saying that \u201creactionary travel bans that would only have made things worse.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>January 31, 2020<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">After non-U.S. citizens were barred from traveling from China, Biden <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/politics\/2021\/01\/28\/biden-xenophobia-travel-bans-chronology\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">spoke<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> to an audience in Iowa.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cYou know we have right now a crisis with the coronavirus, emanating from China,\u201d Biden said. \u201cThe national emergency and worldwide alerts. The American people need to have a president who they can trust what he says about it. That he is going to act rationally about it. In moments like this, this is where the credibility of a president is most needed, as he explains what we should and should not do. We need to lead the way with science \u2014 not Donald Trump\u2019s record of hysteria, xenophobia, and fear-mongering. He is the worst possible person to lead our country through a global health emergency.<\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Joe Biden (@JoeBiden) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/JoeBiden\/status\/1223727977361338370?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">February 1, 2020<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><b>February\u00a025, 2020<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Biden called for a CDC team to travel to China, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/politics\/2020\/04\/03\/how-much-pressure-did-trump-put-china-access-concerning-coronavirus\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">saying<\/span><\/a> <span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cI would be on the phone with China and making it clear, we are going to need to be in your country; you have to be open; you have to be clear; we have to know what\u2019s going on; we have to be there with you, and insist on it and insist, insist, insist.\u201d <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Weeks earlier on January 3, the Trump administration had <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/politics\/2020\/04\/03\/how-much-pressure-did-trump-put-china-access-concerning-coronavirus\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">contacted<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\"> the Chinese CDC and offered assistance.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>March 12, 2020<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">After travel to and from some European countries was suspended by the Trump administration, Biden criticized the decision on Twitter.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"500\" data-dnt=\"true\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">A wall will not stop the coronavirus.<\/p>\n<p>Banning all travel from Europe \u2014 or any other part of the world \u2014 will not stop it.<\/p>\n<p>This disease could impact every nation and any person on the planet \u2014 and we need a plan to combat it.<\/p>\n<p>&mdash; Joe Biden (@JoeBiden) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/JoeBiden\/status\/1238254697695326209?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">March 13, 2020<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">Biden also released a \u201cplan\u201d to combat the spread of COVID-19.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cDownplaying it, being overly dismissive, or spreading misinformation is only going to hurt us and further advantage the spread of the disease,\u201d Biden <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2020\/03\/12\/joe-biden-releases-coronavirus-plan-pushing-contrast-with-trump.html\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">said<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">. \u201cBut neither should we panic or fall back on xenophobia. Many lives were saved. This was not in reference to coronavirus travel restrictions. Travel restrictions, when supported by science, advocated by public health officials, and backed by a full strategy can be warranted. He also added South Africa to the list.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cThis isn\u2019t the time to be lifting restrictions on international travel,\u201d White House Press Secretary Jen Psaki <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/apnews.com\/article\/joe-biden-politics-travel-anthony-fauci-coronavirus-pandemic-2eaff294a44771b7ebc62118bf4f69ba\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">said<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">When asked why these travel bans weren\u2019t being condemned as xenophobic, Psaki <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/watch-press-secretary-asked-why-bidens-travel-bans-arent-xenophobic\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">answered<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">, <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">\u201cWell, I don\u2019t think that\u2019s quite a fair articulation.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">The same day, Biden backtracked on his \u201cgoal\u201d to vaccinate one million Americans per day (which the Trump administration had already <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/bidens-stumbling-bumbling-first-steps-on-covid-19-expose-his-feeble-plan\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">achieved<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400\">), saying \u201cNo, I think we\u2019ll get there before that. I misspoke. I hope we\u2019ll be able to increase as we go on till we get to the 1.5 million a day.
