The suspected driver was released from jail days earlier after posting an \u201cinappropriately low\u201d bail that Chisolm\u2019s office had pushed for, according to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/breaking-wisconsin-da-admits-waukesha-person-of-interest-released-on-inappropriately-low-bail-before-tragedy\">statement<\/a> from the DA.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think it\u2019s in his best interest, and clearly, it\u2019s in the best interest of the people of southeast Wisconsin to fire John Chisholm and make southeast Wisconsin a safer place,\u201d Orville Seymer, who organized the complaint and runs Citizens for Responsible Government, told <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fox6now.com\/news\/evers-firing-of-chisholm-milwaukee-county-da-sought-with-complaint\">FOX6<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve got six people dead, including an 8-year-old boy, people\u2019s mothers and grandmothers, and there are thousands of people around southeast Wisconsin who are thinking, \u2018That could have been my son, that could have been my mother, that could have been my grandmother\u2019 and John Chisholm knew this could have happened,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n<p>Evers said of the complaint that he will \u201ctake it seriously.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s too early to answer the latter question, but clearly, we do now have a letter,\u201d the governor said. \u201cWe have to verify that yet and make sure it\u2019s Milwaukee County people that have submitted it, but we\u2019ll do an investigation. I\u2019m sure we\u2019ll be looking to have some help from both the office in Milwaukee, but also Attorney General Kaul.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Chisolm has endorsed lax bail policies that recommend low bail amounts for certain non-violent criminal activity. In 2007, he <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/you-bet-its-guaranteed-to-happen-leftist-waukesha-da-in-2007-on-chance-released-criminals-would-kill-others\">said<\/a> of his approach to criminal justice: \u201cIs there going to be an individual I divert, or I put into treatment program, who\u2019s going to go out and kill somebody? You bet. Guaranteed. It\u2019s guaranteed to happen. It does not invalidate the overall approach.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The alleged driver of the SUV had been released from jail after posting a $1,000 bail after being locked up on several misdemeanor and felony charges. Chisholm\u2019s office later said that the suspect\u2019s bail was set too low considering the charges he was facing. The statement said in part:<\/p>\n<p><em>On November 5, 2021, the Milwaukee County District Attorney\u2019s office issued against [the suspect] charges of Second Degree Recklessly Endangering Safety, Felony Bail Jumping, Battery, Obstructing an Officer and Disorderly Conduct \u2026 The most recent case against [the suspect] was appropriately charged. The state made a cash bail request in this case of $1,000, which was set by the court. The defendant posted $1,000 cash bail on November 11, resulting in his release from custody.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>The State\u2019s bail recommendation in this case was inappropriately low in light of the nature of the recent charges and the pending charges against [the suspect].
