Anthony Fauci and Dr. Francis Collins launched a smear attack against a group of scientists who warned about the health dangers of public lockdowns.<\/p>\n<p>Collins was deeply disturbed after a group of scientists teamed up to criticize the lockdowns and propose a different strategy to handle the pandemic: Protect the elderly and the vulnerable and allow children and young people to return to work and school.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>The statement released by a group of scientists was called the \u201cGreat Barrington Declaration,\u201d and caught the attention of some in President Donald Trump\u2019s administration.<\/p>\n<p>Health and Human Services Secretary Alex Azar and Scott Atlas, a neuroradiologist advising Trump on the pandemic, met with the group of scientists.<\/p>\n<p>Collins appeared deeply upset.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cThere needs to be a quick and devastating published takedown of its premises,\u201d Collins warned in an October 2020 email from Collins to Fauci and other officials.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_19212842\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\" readability=\"32\"><a href=\"https:\/\/media.breitbart.com\/media\/2021\/12\/Screen-Shot-2021-12-21-at-1.39.34-PM.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-large wp-image-19212842\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Dr Fauci and Dr. Collins emails from NIH \/&nbsp;aier.org<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>The Fauci and Collins emails were obtained and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.citizensjournal.us\/fauci-emails-and-some-alleged-science\/\">released<\/a> in response to a FOIA request submitted by the American Institute for Economic Research.<\/p>\n<p>Collins called the proposal \u201cfringe\u201d and \u201cdangerous\u201d in a <em>Washington Post<\/em> article, sending it around to Fauci and the NIH group, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.aier.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/collinswhitehouse.pdf\">warning<\/a> that it \u201cwill not be appreciated\u201d by the Trump White House.<\/p>\n<div was entirely right.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Fauci and Collins also colluded with White House coronavirus adviser Deborah Birx to find out whether Atlas was bringing up the \u201cGreat Barrington class=\"wp-caption-text\">Dr Fauci and Dr. Collins emails from NIH \/&nbsp;aier.org<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>Some of the emails are redacted, but Fauci demonstrates his loathing for Atlas and the Great Barrington Declaration.<\/p>\n<p>Both Collins and Fauci referred to the declaration as the \u201clet it rip\u201d proposal.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cQuite frankly that is nonsense, and anybody who knows anything about epidemiology will tell you that that is nonsense and very dangerous,\u201d Fauci told Yahoo News.<\/p>\n<p>The text of the declaration does not use that description, but rather suggests allowing people who are not likely to die from the virus to develop natural immunity against the disease.<\/p>\n<p>Fox News anchor Bret Baier confronted Collins on his emails on Sunday, triggering him again to refer to the strategy as the \u201clet this virus rip\u201d proposal.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B4\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\" readability=\"11.033898305085\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Fox News&#8217; Bret Baier asked Dr. Francis Collins about his email calling the Great Barrington Declaration authors (<a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/DrJBhattacharya?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@DrJBhattacharya<\/a>, <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MartinKulldorff?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">@MartinKulldorff<\/a>) &#8220;fringe epidemiologists.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Collins: &#8220;Hundreds of thousands of people would have describing the scientists as \u201cfringe epidemiologists.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cHundreds of thousands of people would have died if we had followed that strategy,\u201d Collins continued. \u201cI\u2019m sorry. I was opposed to that. I still am and I\u2019m not going to apologize for it.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Despite the initial public condemnation of the Great Barrington Declaration by federal health scientists, some public officials took the proposals seriously and let it inform their public virus policies.<\/p>\n<p>The three scientists who co-authored the declaration met with Gov.
