I don\u2019t think anybody anticipated that this was going to be as rapidly spreading as it did.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Biden acknowledged that the holiday season and the spike in coronavirus cases was leading to long lines at testing centers.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cAll of a sudden it was like everyone rushed to the counter. It was a big big rush,\u201d Biden said.<\/p>\n<p>When asked by a reporter what took so long to ramp up testing capacity, Biden grew frustrated.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cC\u2019mon. What took so long,\u201d he said bitterly. \u201cWhat took so long is it didn\u2019t take so long at all.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He acknowledged that the omicron variant of the virus spread more rapidly and that if he predicted it four weeks ago, people would not have believed him.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think you would have looked at me and said, \u2018Biden, what have you been drinking,&#8217;\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Biden said more tests would be available in January, after purchasing half a billion tests to send to Americans who wanted them.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThat\u2019s half a billion.
