Facebook has always recruited aggressively, but the company\u2019s poor public image has meant that the tech giant is now being forced to outbid other tech giants like Google. They can easily throw more compensation at people they currently have, and cover any brand tax and pay a little more to get people to come on.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>Facebook currently has 4,300 open jobs and has reportedly suffered from decreasing rates of acceptance for its job offers, according to internal documents. Facebook has also <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/tech\/2021\/12\/08\/bye-zuck-facebooks-head-of-messenger-joins-other-prominent-execs-in-jumping-ship\/\">experienced<\/a> dozens of high-level executives abandon the company this year.<\/p>\n<p>In February, Deborah Liu, formerly the head of Facebook Marketplace, left the company to become the CEO of Ancestry.com.&nbsp;<a class=\"x5l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2021\/03\/30\/facebooks-chief-revenue-officer-david-fischer-announces-departure.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external\">David Fischer<\/a>, who acted as Facebook\u2019s chief revenue officer, announced that he was leaving in March, and&nbsp;<a class=\"x5l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2021\/03\/18\/facebook-novi-exec-kevin-weil-leaves-for-a-climate-change-startup.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external\">Kevin Weil<\/a>&nbsp;who co-founded Facebook\u2019s Novi cryptocurrency division also revealed that he was leaving the company.<\/p>\n<p>In June, Facebook\u2019s former ads chief&nbsp;<a class=\"x5l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2021\/06\/09\/facebooks-ad-chief-carolyn-everson-is-leaving-the-company.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external\">Carolyn Everson<\/a>&nbsp;announced that she would be leaving the company and later joined the grocery delivery app Instacart. Taking over as Instacart CEO is&nbsp;<a class=\"x5l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2021\/07\/08\/instacart-new-ceo-fidji-simo-comes-from-facebook.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external\">Fidji Simo<\/a>, who left his position as the head of the Facebook app to join the delivery upstart.<\/p>\n<p>In August, Mark D\u2019Arcy stepped down from his role at Facebook as chief creative officer. In September, technology chief&nbsp;<a class=\"x5l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2021\/09\/22\/facebook-chief-technology-officer-to-step-down.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external\">Mike Schroepfer<\/a>&nbsp;announced his plans to leave. And in November,&nbsp;<a class=\"x5l\" href=\"https:\/\/www.cnbc.com\/2021\/11\/30\/metas-head-of-cryptocurrency-david-marcus-resigns.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external\">David Marcus<\/a>, the head of cryptocurrency plans, announced that he would also be leaving.<\/p>\n<p>One former Oculus engineer who left last year said that Facebook could now be seen as a \u201cblack mark\u201d on someone\u2019s career.&nbsp;Zuhayeer Musa, the cofounder of the platform Levels.fyi, which collects salary data based on verified offers and compensation disclosures, noted that for employees who stick around at the firm, base pay and stock options have increased by a \u201csizable\u201d amount in 2021.<\/p>\n<p>In the second quarter of 2021, the median compensation for an upper-mid-level engineer \u2014 referred to as an E5 \u2014 was $400,000, up from $380,000 a year earlier.
