Roosevelt\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/www.history.com\/this-day-in-history\/fdr-signs-executive-order-9066\">internment<\/a> of Japanese Americans. He said the White House sold its internment policy as protective of both Japanese Americans and Americans, more broadly.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cL<span>et\u2019s go back in history a little bit and talk about a comparison,\u201d he stated. \u201cIt\u2019s not a perfect comparison, but I think it\u2019s a powerful one. \u2026&nbsp;<\/span>The United States was taken by surprise at Pearl Harbor,\u201d he said. \u201cIt was a catastrophic intelligence failure by that administration. So \u2026 they said, \u2018We are going to start interning in internment camps Japanese Americans,\u2019 and the argument was, \u2018We\u2019re going to do this to protect Americans. We\u2019re also going to do this to protect Japanese Americans.&#8217;\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>Eggers replied, \u201cI<span>t\u2019s interesting to consider that parallels [sic]. Obviously COVID lockdowns and any policies related to COVID are not the same thing as an internment camp, but you had an event, people died, people were scared, the government went into action, and what they thought \u2014 and what all the smart people in the administration thought \u2014 was the right thing to do to protect people.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Schweizer described abusive government decrees in the context of COVID-19 as an overcompensation following an initial failure. He warned of a trajectory and momentum towards further undermining fundamental rights.<\/p>\n<p><span>He remarked, \u201cWhat we\u2019re seeing out of the New York State Assembly certainly is not the same as what Japanese Americans went through, but it\u2019s moving in that direction, and it\u2019s doubling down on taking away your civil liberties, because they failed to begin with, a<\/span><span>nd they are now effectively trying to cover up their initial failing.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p>Eggers linked proposals for centralized government databases of COVID-19 vaccination records to the federal government\u2019s use of census data to detain Japanese Americans during World War II.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B3\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<div id=\"attachment_19212018\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\" readability=\"35\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/AP420330163.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-full wp-image-19212018\" src=\"https:\/\/www.conservativenewsdaily.net\/breaking-news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2021\/12\/AP420330163.jpg\" alt=\"Mrs. Shigeho Kitamoto is evacuated along with other Japanese from Bainbridge Island in Washington State, March 30, 1942. Uncredited \/ ASSOCIATED PRESS<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><span>He said, \u201cOne of the bills that\u2019s been proposed is this idea of forcing all adult vaccine records into a state database, and as history will tell you \u2026 one of the ways \u2026&nbsp;<\/span><span>in which they identified all Japanese Americans in the 1940s was through census data, and they were able to go and find individual census records and identify Japanese Americans to get them \u2014 for their own safety \u2014 into internment camps.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>\u201cThis is the stuff that kind of freaks people out,\u201d he added, \u201cand it should.\u201d<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span>Eggers observed the social conditioning of fearing other Americans produced by government policy and news media narratives. He and Schweizer recalled a recent anecdote in a New York City hotel elevator given their travel to the Big Apple to host the <em>Sean Hannity Show<\/em>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>He remarked, \u201cPeople now get on a elevator with you in a hotel, and you can see in their eyes, there\u2019s this flicker of danger, because the social contract has been inverted, and we now have been told to see other people as threats to our physical well-being.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>He added:<\/p>\n<blockquote readability=\"19\">\n[Japanese Americans] fell into a category that was perceived to be not obedient or not in line with what the government\u2019s mission or agenda was at that time.&nbsp;You\u2019ve heard some people draw comparisons between the unvaccinated and people considered to be hostile, but I think that\u2019s what\u2019s dangerous about this duality, like you\u2019re either in or you\u2019re not.<\/p>\n<p>This inversion of the social contract [is] where we are now being told to see other human beings \u2014 other Americans \u2014 [as threats].
