The image appears to have been digitally fabricated, likely as a joke.<\/p>\n<p><span><strong>Fact Check:<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Featured in the image is what looks like a holiday-themed Rag\u00fa peppermint alfredo pasta sauce, with the jar adorned with candy canes, peppermints and pieces of cheese. One iteration garnered <a href=\"https:\/\/archive.ph\/bKGWT\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">over 1,600 shares<\/a> on Facebook before being deleted. <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/checkyourfact.com\/2021\/11\/19\/fact-check-ben-jerrys-ice-cream-joseph-rosenbaum\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">(RELATED: Did Ben &amp; Jerry\u2019s Release A New Ice Cream Flavor In Honor Of Joseph Rosenbaum?)<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The sauce flavor, however, is not real. Peppermint alfredo pasta sauce is <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ragu.com\/our-sauces#yellow-card-first-ragsimplysauces\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">not among<\/a>&nbsp;the many sauces available on Rag\u00fa\u2019s official website. The brand has made no mention of a peppermint alfredo pasta sauce on its <a href=\"https:\/\/www.facebook.com\/page\/10150101654620468\/search\/?q=peppermint\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">verified Facebook<\/a> or <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/search?q=peppermint%20(from%3Aragusauce)&amp;src=typed_query\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Twitter accounts<\/a>, nor has it <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ragu.com\/press-releases\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">announced<\/a> a \u201climited edition\u201d run of such a sauce in any press releases. The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ragu.com\/press-release\/ragu-unveils-major-relaunch-with-humorous-new-cook-like-a-mother-ad-campaign-and-brand-redesign\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">most recent press release<\/a> available on the Rag\u00fa website, titled \u201cRAG\u00da\u00ae Unveils Major Relaunch With Humorous, New \u2018Cook Like A Mother\u2019 Ad Campaign And Brand Redesign\u201d and dated Nov. 15, does not include any references to peppermint alfredo sauce.<\/p>\n<p>The image of the fake peppermint alfredo flavor appears to be based on that of Rag\u00fa\u2019s <a href=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20211121130130\/https:\/\/www.target.com\/p\/ragu-classic-alfredo-sauce-16oz\/-\/A-12935468\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">classic alfredo sauce product<\/a>, likely as a festive joke. The candy canes, peppermints and hints of red in the sauce seem to have been digitally edited onto the classic alfredo jar.<\/p>\n<p>The <a href=\"https:\/\/www.mizkan.com\/brands\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">Rag\u00fa brand<\/a> falls under the umbrella of the company Mizkan America. In an email to Check Your Fact, Deborah Cross, director of communications for Mizkan America, confirmed they \u201chave NOT launched this product and have no plans at this time to do so.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur guess is that a holiday elf, having some fun on social media, may have come up with the peppermint-alfredo-sauce concept,\u201d she went on to say. \u201cAnd while it\u2019s certainly festive and creative, it might not be a fan favorite at mealtimes.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Though it appears that the image was likely originally created as a joke, the Facebook post\u2019s caption does not make that clear, and some users seem to have mistaken it for a real product.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>An image shared on Facebook purportedly shows a peppermint alfredo sauce released by the Rag\u00fa sauce brand.Facebook\/ScreenshotVerdict: False There is no record of Rag\u00fa releasing peppermint alfredo pasta sauce.
