I\u2019ve never seen a combination of challenges like this at the same time.\u201d<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>Murray went on to say that the company is currently facing an unprecedented challenge due to the current combination of crises, and had entered into talks with retailers regarding the upcoming price rise.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe\u2019ve dealt with substantial challenges in the past in the food industry \u2013 whether it\u2019s natural disasters, inflation in the economic crisis. It\u2019s the compression of the challenge, combined with the scale of some of them,\u201d Murray continued. \u201cWe\u2019re kind of getting some sleepless nights. It\u2019s really just testing our resilience.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>While the exact percentage increase has yet to be confirmed, Murray admitted that some products could see a price rise of around 5.1 per cent, in line with the UK\u2019s inflation.<\/p>\n<p>However, the Pladis director also emphasised that Chocolate Digestives, which <em>The Mail<\/em> reports as being Britain\u2019s favourite snack, will remain \u201cvery affordable\u201d.<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\" readability=\"5.9487179487179\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Bidenflation Meets Breadenflation? UK Bread Prices Set to Rise 20 Per Cent <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/4eqw0f8hcQ\">https:\/\/t.co\/4eqw0f8hcQ<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Breitbart London (@BreitbartLondon) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BreitbartLondon\/status\/1463126686485127169?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">November 23, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B3\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<p>Pladis is currently facing a \u201cdouble-digit\u201d percentage increase in the costs of raw ingredients, such as cocoa beans, according to Murray.<\/p>\n<p>This is in line with costs increases faced by other food producers in the UK.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/europe\/2021\/11\/22\/inflation-uk-bread-prices-set-to-rise-20\/\">Wheat-based products<\/a>&nbsp;have been hit particularly hard with rising costs, with the price of bread&nbsp;having risen by over 25 per cent on the previous year in November.<\/p>\n<p>This increase has largely been blamed on a jump in the price of wheat, which has only been exasperated by other geopolitical issues, such as tensions between Ukraine and Russia. Ukraine has traditionally been known as the \u2018breadbasket of Europe\u2019, given it is one of the world\u2019s largest grain exporters.<\/p>\n<p>Britons have also seen <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/europe\/2021\/11\/18\/uk-inflation-hits-ten-year-high\/\">massive increases<\/a> in the cost of energy, jumping 28.1 per cent over the previous year. This has translated to an increase of around 25p per litre at the petrol pump, and a nearly 19% increase in electricity prices.<\/p>\n<p>Inflation in many Europe has also seen a sharp rise, with the Eurozone seeing the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/europe\/2021\/12\/02\/eurozone-inflation-hits-highest-level-since-introduction-of-the-euro\/\">highest level of inflation<\/a> ever recorded since the implementation of the currency.<\/p>\n<p>However, both the UK and EU have been beaten out in terms of inflation by the United States, seeing an on-year increase of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.theguardian.com\/business\/2021\/dec\/10\/us-inflation-rate-rise-2021-highest-increase-since-1982\">6.8 per cent<\/a> in November.<\/p>\n<p>This has translated into a massive spike in prices for the American consumer, with the price of this year\u2019s&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/economy\/2021\/11\/20\/bidenflation-thanksgiving-dinner-costs-hit-record-high-up-14-from-last-year\/\">Thanksgiving turkey<\/a> up 24 per cent compared to the previous.<\/p>\n<p>US petrol prices have been the star of the Bidenflation show, however, seeing an annual gain of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/economy\/2021\/11\/10\/bidenflation-hits-drivers-prices-soar-on-used-cars-new-cars-new-trucks-auto-parts-gas-motor-oil-repairs\/?utm_medium=social&amp;utm_source=facebook\">49.6 per cent<\/a> in October.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Some of Britain\u2019s favourite biscuit brands are set to jump in price by up to 5 per cent as inflation soars in the UK.
