Regional newspapers will also be paid to carry the same advert in the coming days.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cEvery adult in the country now needs to get a COVID-19 booster vaccine, because two doses does not give you enough protection against catching Omicron. I don\u2019t read newspapers for the same reason that I don\u2019t drink sewage, so I\u2019ll miss this important message.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Journalist Mark Simpson <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/marksimpsonist\/status\/1472877154899828736\">quipped<\/a>: \u201cThe Fourth Estate \u2014 the untamed watchdog of democracy.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The government has focussed heavily on using public advertisements to shape public opinion on the Chinese coronavirus, including videos dubbed&nbsp;as \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/europe\/2021\/01\/23\/emotionally-manipulative-propaganda-uk-govt-releases-scare-tactic-pro-lockdown-video\/\">emotionally manipulative propaganda<\/a>\u201d featuring COVID patients in hospital with the message:&nbsp;\u201cLook him in the eyes and tell him you always keep a safe distance\u201d.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B3\" class=\"a8d adSo\"><\/figure>\n<p>Another ad campaign in January warned Britons that having coffee with a friend could \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/europe\/2021\/01\/15\/uk-govt-shock-ad-campaign-coffee-friends-costs-lives\/\">cost lives<\/a>\u201c.<\/p>\n<p>The government has admitted in a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.gov.uk\/government\/publications\/options-for-increasing-adherence-to-social-distancing-measures-22-march-2020\">paper<\/a> in May of last year that the influential&nbsp;Scientific Advisory Group for Emergencies (SAGE) planned out \u201cOptions for increasing adherence to social distancing measures\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>In the \u201cPersuasion\u201d section of the paper, the behavioural science sub-group the Scientific Pandemic Insights Group on Behaviours (SPI-B)&nbsp;<a class=\"x5l\" href=\"https:\/\/assets.publishing.service.gov.uk\/government\/uploads\/system\/uploads\/attachment_data\/file\/887467\/25-options-for-increasing-adherence-to-social-distancing-measures-22032020.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener external\">said<\/a> that \u201ca&nbsp;substantial number of people still do not feel sufficiently personally threatened\u201d by the coronavirus.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe&nbsp;perceived level of personal threat needs to be increased among those who are complacent, using hard-hitting emotional messaging.
