\/><\/div>\n<p class=\"subheading\">Washington, DC, Mayor Muriel Bowser (D) is reinstituting an indoor mask mandate in the nation\u2019s capital alongside a slew of other measures, she announced on Monday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI will reinstate a citywide mask order,\u201d Bowser <a href=\"https:\/\/mayor.dc.gov\/sites\/default\/files\/dc\/sites\/mayormb\/release_content\/attachments\/Situational-Update-Presentation_12-21-2021_.pdf\">said<\/a> during a press briefing while also making the announcement on social media.<\/p>\n<figure id=\"D-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B1\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<figure id=\"gmxrevmore\" class=\"H\"><\/figure>\n<p>The indoor mask mandate goes into effect on Tuesday, December 21, 2021, through January 31, 2022:<\/p>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\" readability=\"11.470588235294\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">2) Reinstate the indoor mask mandate. <\/p>\n<p>Beginning Tuesday, December 21st at 6 AM, the indoor mask mandate will be office described as a \u201cState of Emergency 2022 Winter Surge\u201d plan, which includes expanded testing, a vaccine and booster mandate for D.C. government employees, testing and vaccination centers, and an extension of District of Columbia Public Schools\u2019 (DCPS) winter break.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>\u201cAll employees, contractors, interns, and grantees of DC Government must be fully vaccinated against COVID-19, and must have a booster,\u201d the mayor\u2019s slideshow presentation reads, emphasizing that there is \u201cno test-out option.\u201d<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is critical that all eligible people are getting vaccinated and getting their booster shots,\u201d the slide reads.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs transmission rates increase, unvaccinated people are being hospitalized and dying at staggering rates compared to vaccinated people,\u201d it continued, echoing the warning from President Joe Biden, who <a href=\"https:\/\/www.breitbart.com\/politics\/2021\/12\/16\/omicron-is-here-joe-biden-warns-winter-of-severe-illness-and-death-for-unvaccinated-americans\/%E2%80%9Cs\">warned<\/a> of a winter of \u201csevere illness and death\u201d for unvaccinated Americans.<span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">The renewed mandates come as public health officials express concern over the Omicron&nbsp;variant.&nbsp;<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span class=\"Apple-converted-space\">Blue states, such as California and New York, are also&nbsp;reinstating&nbsp;forms of mask&nbsp;mandates&nbsp;nearly two years after the start of the pandemic and one year after the rollout of
