The group reportedly used the stars and a mountain for direction as they traversed 10 miles.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">ABC News <a href=\"https:\/\/abcnews.go.com\/US\/wireStory\/church-agency-captive-missionaries-made-daring-escape-81858195\">reported<\/a> that the group brought the baby and 3 year-old child, keeping the infant protected from the brush as they continued.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cAfter a number of hours of walking, day began to dawn and they eventually found someone who helped to make a phone call for help,\u201d Showalter said as he began to choke up. \u201cThey were finally free.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Showalter said that the group was later taken to Florida via a Coast Guard flight.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">ABC News added:&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">They were not physically harmed by the kidnappers, Showalter said. He said the main physical challenges included the heat, mosquitoes and contaminated water for bathing, which led some of them to develop sores. Sometimes the young children got sick.<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The missionaries got together several times a day for devotions and prayer, Showalter said, noting that at times they would sing with enough volume for one another to hear when they were not in the same room.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The Post noted, \u201cAbout halfway through their time in captivity, the missionaries set up a 24-hour prayer rotation. They talked and sang through the walls to encourage hostages from other groups, Showalter said.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Showalter said, \u201cThe hostages spoke to the gang leader on several occasions, boldly reminding him of God and warning him of God\u2019s eventual judgment if him and the gang members continue in their gangs.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">The ministry organization has said that the leaders of its group and the missionaries forgive the members of 400 Mawozo.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cIn our minds and theirs,\u201d Showalter stated, \u201cthe true hostages are the hostage-takers.\u201d<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Following the press conference, a group of workers for Christian Aid Ministries came together to sing, \u201cNearer My God to Thee.\u201d&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">Last week, The Daily Wire <a href=\"https:\/\/www.dailywire.com\/news\/haitian-gang-releases-remaining-12-kidnapped-american-missionaries\">reported<\/a> that the twelve missionaries held captive for two months were released without harm.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cThe Christian mission organization, based in Berlin, Ohio,&nbsp;<a href=\"https:\/\/christianaidministries.org\/highlighted\/haiti-staff-abduction\/\">updated<\/a>&nbsp;the status of the remaining missionaries Thursday morning at 11:00 a.m. Eastern Standard Time with thanks for answered prayers,\u201d The Daily Wire noted.&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\">\u201cWe glorify God for answered prayer\u2014the remaining twelve hostages are FREE!&nbsp;Join us in praising God that all seventeen of our loved ones are now safe.&nbsp;Thank you for your fervent prayers throughout the past two months.
