Kindergartners are now required to:<\/p>\n<blockquote readability=\"9\">\n<p>K.11 * Examine culturally significant traditions, celebrations, days, and places including those from cultures that are currently and historically marginalized.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>To develop their \u201cHistorical Thinking (Skills),\u201d Oregon kindergartners are also now required to:<\/p>\n<blockquote readability=\"10\">\n<p>K.17 * Make connections identifying similarities and differences including race, ethnicity, culture, disability, and gender between self and others.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\" readability=\"7.3478260869565\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Democrat Illinois Gov. Pritzker signed a sex ed bill into law that requires kindergartners to learn to define gender identity. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/8KRdLSM5H4\">https:\/\/t.co\/8KRdLSM5H4<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Breitbart News (@BreitbartNews) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BreitbartNews\/status\/1431786878408200194?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">August 29, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<figure id=\"M-ROS-B2\" class=\"a8d\"><\/figure>\n<p>As noted by the Oregon Department of Education, Oregon House Bill 2845 <a href=\"https:\/\/www.oregon.gov\/ode\/educator-resources\/standards\/socialsciences\/Documents\/Ethnic%20Studies%20Standards%20FAQ%20April%202021%20update.pdf\">defined<\/a> ethnic studies as:<\/p>\n<blockquote readability=\"24\">\n<p>\u2026 the instruction of public-school students in kindergarten through grade 12 in the histories, contributions, and perspectives of individuals who are Native American or Americans of African, Asian, Pacific Island, Chicano, Latino, or Middle Eastern descent. It also includes the histories, contributions, and perspectives of the women, people with disabilities, immigrants, refugees, and individuals who are lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<blockquote class=\"twitter-tweet\" data-width=\"550\" data-dnt=\"true\" readability=\"9.0321100917431\">\n<p lang=\"en\" dir=\"ltr\">Fairfax County Schools will survey students as young as 12 about sexual activity, transgender identity, and whether their parents bully them. <a href=\"https:\/\/t.co\/peAYd6puUM\">https:\/\/t.co\/peAYd6puUM<\/a><\/p>\n<p>\u2014 Breitbart News (@BreitbartNews) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/BreitbartNews\/status\/1457335729877565447?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">November 7, 2021<\/a><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Corvallis Schools Superintendent Ryan Noss <a href=\"https:\/\/www.csd509j.net\/news\/superintendents-update-10-8-20\/\">shared<\/a> his views of the new standards with his school board in October 2020:<\/p>\n<blockquote readability=\"14.417021276596\">\n<p>For the 2020-21 school year, we will be engaging in further exploration of this work at every grade level in our district, starting with our youngest learners. This work continues in social studies classes at the upper grades, as we foster important conversations and create safe spaces for students to make sense of the world around them. For example, we\u2019re living through one of the largest social movements in the history of our nation.
